Nice topic title.
I enjoyed the first Watch Dogs as well and am interested in getting WD2 eventually. However it may be awhile as I have a number of games I want to get before then.
Yeah I definitely want to get this but it's going to be awhile before I do.

That's sexist!
It's worse than sexist. It's vaginaist.
I'm only a few hours in so this is still early impressions but I feel they went backwards from WD1. WD1 was incredibly unique, first because it was the first time we had this hacking ability and it became a stealth version of GTA with cool powers.
But for me it was because of the incredible side quests and mini games that were so much better than anything in any open world game. Where else can you become a giant spider tank and attack the city? Or all of a sudden enter a carmaggedon mini game. The AR games were fun too. There was chess puzzles, drinking games, and the awesome QR puzzles. No after every mission I could just go off and do something entirely different and that is very important for me in open world games.
In WD2 they replaced all that with boring standard crap from every open world game. UBer driving? It's just a bunch of random car missions. Taking pictures of landmarks? One side quest has me just driving to hacking points and messing with people in an ATM. It's like we are back to chasing icons on a map.
Not having online up is the other huge issue as online stuff was part of the great variety of the first game and I am really missing it so far.
Yeah the city is better to explore. Now they put random shit to find with the hacker vision all over the place and the hack puzzles are outdoors now which is cool. The hack powers are better but so far it's mostly the same as WD1.
I feel this is a step back so far, no where close to the AC2 equivalent. You can't lose content and be a bigger game.

It's a real cunt-ass move.
Online is up and the game is much better now. Hacking is still great, the coop missions are randomized missions but fun to do together. The best new thing is bounty hunt where you are either hunted by police and other players or you hunt the person escaping. So imagine being chased by people with the same hacking skills as you, there are some great chases.
The game world is just PACKED with stuff to do. Probably the most content per area I have ever seen. It's like the riddler trophies with this scattered around every corner whether it's upgrades, money or other unlockables there is something to find nearly every block. Some of these are easier to get more than others, many require some nifty use of your drones to reach. It's not as varied as the riddler stuff cause you don't have the skills of batman but I enjoy grabbing things.
The missions invoked in infiltrating bases are still great, hacking and getting around silently is when the game is at it's best and there are some well designed areas. Story is fun hacker stuff, it's like millenials the game.
This is definetly a great game but it didn't wow me like the first one did.
Watch Dogs was a mixed bag in terms of reception. Some people didn’t like it, I felt it was one of the best GTA style games ever made, as it took mostly everything that works with GTA and did its own thing with hacking. The hacking gameplay was unique, interesting and opened up all kinds of gameplay oppertunites. WD also had some of the greatest side content with full length mini games like spider tank and an alien invasion game. It also had some of the best online functionality of an open world game. Still it had a bland world and story, and some people just couldn’t connect.
WD2 seems to fix all that. Reviews praise it’s story and amazing city. The hacking is much improved and so is mission variety. There are issues with online at the moment so Ubisoft had to shut it down during the review period so some reviews are left incomplete. These problems are hopefully fixed at launch. Sadly it seems like digital trips are gone so less interesting side quests will be present but everything else is improved.
