That game was never released though, (it turned into Bad Fur Day), though it was apparently almost complete itself. I have some preview shots of it in EGM with it looking like every other kiddy 3D platformer of the time.
My sister had a GBA game of his. It was a kids game.

Same here.

And while it has nothing to add to the topic, I just wanted to take a moment to say Bulletstorm ruled.

Duly noted. I had no idea. It came out almost two years before BFD. I bet it was supposed to be simultaneous release with the original N64 game.
To me, if you like stuff like South Park you can appreciate something like Conker. I don't see how the vulgarness would be a negative. Its funny and added an extra layer of depth to the standout platforming that its bretheren relied SOLELY on.

I think you're right.
I remember EGM reviewing the Game Boy game, which I think was a GB Color game actually, and not being too impressed with it. Complaining it was just another cuddly platformer. That kind of talk was going on more and more at the time which led Rare to go in a new direction with the console game, which got universal praise. It actually also had better platforming & combat mechanics than any other platformer of its kind too, because it wasn't just a cuddly collectathon.
Would people have cared about Conker if it was exactly like Banjo and you just went around collecting fuckin' nuts or something? Probably not.
