I guess I'm addressing this mainly to Bugsie, I just got the 3 disc collectors edition of the HK movie Sparrow

It's a good movie but the soundtrack is fantastic and this set comes with a free CD of of the music. It's £10 on amazon.

Lot's more from the soundtrack here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3F2SgA_crI&feature=related

The movie is decent by HK standards but the music is the star attraction. Snap up the 3 disc set by Terracotta distribution as it comes with the free soundtrack. It's usually £18 but amazon have it for £10

Review here of the set

Terracotta have really outdone themselves with this 3 disc edition of Sparrow. In addition to the film, there is a second DVD case which houses one disc of extras, and a second CD of the soundtrack of Sparrow, which is absolutely magical. I've been playing it in my car for days and days on repeat. One of very few musical scores I have any desire to own, and here it is! On the bonus DVD is a great hour-long documentary titled "Johnnie Get Your Gun", made by French documentarian, Yves Montmayeur. The film is a fascinating look behind the scenes of several of To's films from 2006 forward (Breaking News, Exiled, Election, Sparrow) as well as behind the scenes of To's Milkyway Studio. There is a lot of interview footage from several different settings, and a lot of behind the scenes material that is really interesting. The documentary also features a fun section following Simon Yam around Milkyway and into the set of the final shootout of Exiled which was built on the building's roof (!). This isn't a terribly probing documentary, but more of an extended behind the scenes feature, however, it is a lot of fun to peek behind the curtain when To is working. Rounding out the extras are several interviews with Cast and Crew that are, I believe, exclusive to this DVD set. A wonderful set for a fantastic film.

Terracotta Distribution have really gone the extra mile to make this a definitive edition of Sparrow. My only regret is that it is on DVD rather than Blu, but Terracotta haven't yet made the leap, hopefully they will soon, they've got a great catalog to start with. Even so, with the amazing soundtrack CD included and Johnnie Got His Gun on the bonus disc, I'll definitely cherish this edition and I heartily recommend it without hesitation!

Any of you guys caught any of the older Ghibli films on Bluray? I picked up Naussica on Bluray and what Optimum have done with the picture is stunning. It's a 70s film and yet they have cleaned up the picture so well that it looks better than modern animation on Blu-ray like Summer Wars. All the backgrounds are crystal clear and vibrant with colour. It looks better than live action bluray movies if you ask me, like someone has cleared the vaseline off the camera lens. I think the Yamadas and Castle in the Sky are the other two that are released other than Ponyo. I'm waiting on Kiki, Porco, Howl and Spirited Away, as well as Mononoke.

TTGL kicked into overdrive. So nice to see the characters with a few years more over their shoulders.

Denno Coil is really good. It still makes little sense to me, though.

Aaand I just wrapped up TTGL. Kickass ending, with the last few episodes being some of the coolest and most epic shit I've ever seen.

Imagine if game companies did this sort of cheezy shit?  Like release Ico as a regular game and then have some weirdass grey-market ICO 2:The Bloodening released in back-channels only on Linux.

This is part of the Back to the Future canon (it's never been elaborated on in any of the various movies and games) :

How did Doc and Marty come to be buddies?

"For years, Marty was told that Doc Brown was dangerous, a crackpot, a lunatic. So, being a red-blooded American teenage boy, age 13 or 14, he decided to find out just why this guy was so dangerous. Marty snuck into Doc’s lab, and was fascinated by all the cool stuff that was there. when Doc found him there, he was delighted to find that Marty thought he was cool and accepted him for what he was. Both of them were the black sheep in their respective environments. Doc gave Marty a part-time job to help with experiments, tend to the lab, tend to the dog, etc.

And that’s the origin of their relationship."

There's all kinds of cool backstory in BTTF, like how Doc Brown burned down his mansion for insurance money and moved into his garage, which is what we see him living in next to that old Burger King in 1985.  Certainly looked different thirty years later.

I saw Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. I think fans will love this.

I am a franchise outside, so there were a few things unexplained as the film relates to an early case in the games.

The film manages to have epic moments where something unexpected happens but there is no pacing in the film they go from 0 - 60 mph then back down to 0 then back up to 60.

Animation was nice, nothing special but nice and clean with good non-invasive cgi. Also it's nice to see foreigner's take on Britishness, the idealised way they draw famous locations as well as the tipping of hats, politeness and Luke's hilarious quest to be a True Gentlemen. He has his true gentleman moment in the film which brought a huge grin to my face. If they did this sort of film for other franchises like Phoenix Wright I would love it. Shame the Animal Crossing movie was never released here.

I saw the Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc Sec by Luc Besson, director of Leon and the Fifth Element.

Fun film. No artistic aspirations here just entertainment.

I guess it's closest comparison would be The Mummy 1 and 2 or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Adele is a reporter and writer, but really more like a femal Indiana Jones set in the early 20th Century i.e 1907-ish.

Her sister is almost dead and she has to go to egypt, get a mummy and try to revive it so it can help, only there is a newly born Pterodactal loose on the streets of paris and a crazy old coot in jail headed for execution that she needs to bust out.

Being a French film it's got more farcical elements and it a sense of whimsy about it, culminating in a delightful scene near the end set in a museum. The lead actress is pretty hot and even gets her baps out at one point.

The only bad thing about the movie is the ending which is clearly a setup for a sequel. The good news is that it's a sequel I would gladly watch.

Does anyone watch the Clone Wars TV series?

I started recording it and it's into god knows what season now. Anyway I want to watch them from the beggining but have run into a huge problem.

On the actual episodes there is no frigging episode title, not at the beggining, not at the freaking end. Just that stupid blue lesson learned text which isn't even the episode title.

I need to order these things so I can start watching them from the start.

How would I go about this? Is there anywhere on the net where the blue lesson learned text is linked to the episode titles in a guide somewhere?

^ I am sure there is. Just keep looking.

I saw the first season and lost track afterwards. I was planning to buy them all anyway so I will just buy the seasons as they come out.

I've been looking for the first season in BluRay and can't find it. All I can find are 2nd seasons.

Damn it gets worse.

Recentely the episodes were at least titled on the electronic programme guide of my HDD recorder. For about 10 episodes, then for the next 6, no titles on the EPG and no titles on the actual episodes. It's becoming impossible to find out the order without actually watching each episode. I could be on season 3 for all I know. The recap at the beggining is just confusing.

I also finished Season 2 of Supernatural.

I think I'm getting the feeling that it's not quite living up to its potential.

It's still solid.

It wastes a lot of time with episodic fluff instead of concentrating on the main story and even when it does the main story it's teased and underplayed. There is so much potential there but when they tease things it doesn't sound like it's going somewhere like in Lost or Babylon 5 for instance - it just feel like teasing for teasings sake. "There's a war coming" etc
