The books flow terribly too, and are TERRIBLY edited. The series could be half the length it is without losing anything at all. The'yve got emotion in them, though. If you think LOTR films are emotional you need to raise your standards a bit lol.
"We literally saw these actors grow up like they do in the story and that is amazing."
And after all these years Radcliffe still can't act.
From what I've seen of the newer films I think I prefer the older ones. The new ones have become a bit too flashy, and bloated. I'm several films behind, though.

Saw the final part of the Milennium trilogy, the Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest
Really good movie, all 3 of the films are. They are remaking these movies with David Fincher directing and Daniel Craig as the journalist.
I urge you to see the original trilogy of movies starting with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Not a remake, I really doubt they are remaking those movies. Its just a different adaptation.

You don't like LOTR, I cant take anything you say about fantasy movies seriously.
Amd ROTK is the only movie to have me openly weep in the theater. (aside from any dog dying movie, those are EVIL)

Wrong, but that doesn't mean I can't see that A) it's a terrible adaptation in that it's basically the opposite of everything the books are about and B) everything about it is unbelievably corny with large helpings of ham. They're solid action films, but no better than that and deeply flawed. I wouldn't call things like over acting, general corniness a flaw in an action film normally, but when they're lauded as being something they're not they become far more annoying than they do enjoyable.
It's your and people like you's fault.
Holy hell. That is the greatest over acting I have ever seen then. Did you see the stuff they had to say, stuff from the books... no way to do that without being corny.
They are excellent adaptations. I dont want 30 pages on some dudes last name and where is damn family tree came from put on screen. They cut out the fat and focused on what mattered.

That's why you ADAPT dialogue. You're a shit writer if you're trying to and can't make it sound uncorny. Simple as that.
Lol. The films themselves are incredibly long winded and bloated. I'm referring to the themes anyway, which they were either apparently completely unaware of, or didn't care that they were shitting all over them. If we're talking about cutting out fat there was a HELL of a lot they could have cut out/done in a far more concise manner in the films themselves. And it still would have been an incredibly long epic.
Dvader said:What themes?
"What themes?" Exactly when it comes to the films lol.
As for the books:
War, among other more talked about things and obvious. And before you say: "but he hats teh allegorziezz" I'm not saying it's an allegory for world war 1 or 2. The film shallowly explores good vs. evil and heroics. It ignores everything else. The strength of the LOTR books is not just the lore (which is great) but also the themes which are at the very least as important as the lore. The films only take one half of the book's value, and I don't mean they cut away 50% of the scenes lol. They cut away 50% of the soul of the books.
Edit I just saw that link, every single one of those themes are clearly present in the movie. I saw the movies before I ever read the books and I got ALL of that from the movies themselves.
Dvader said:The movies are soaked in themes, what did you watch. It covers everything from war, friendship, courage, obsession, corruption by power, father son relations, life, death, loss of innocence, love an many others.

Covering something is not the same as exploring it.
EDIT:
Just so this can continue on for another 20 pages: this is the same reason Blade Runner is ultimately a shallow film. Yeah yeah, it's got that whole humanity crap going on, but it doesn't actually explore it. It's a shallow expression that only allows for interpritation on a base narrative level. The themes are there, but they're shallow and pointless. It still looks great, though.
Also as an aside war as a theme in an action film=instant failure anyway which is why people like Sam Peckinpah fail so badly in what they're trying to achieve.

Yeah they are remaking the movies, it's been confirmed ages ago. There's even a trailer several pages back in the movie hype thread.
You cried at ROTK? Lordie, someone should show you Grave of the Fireflies, it would scar you for life.

I cried because of how bad it was. /10 more Vader posts.
U Suck^
I've been watching Supernatural thanks to steel and iga reccomendations.
Seems pretty decent, nice to see a fairly manly show after stuff like Alias.
^It only gets better and better. If you do not think it is fantastic by end of season 2 check your pulse, you might be dead. And if you are not, I will visit you in London and make sure you are.

I hope so, it sounds like it has some potential if they follow the story through. At the moment it's very episodic, I want to see it get richer and develop this sort of supernatural underworld. Would be cool for the two brothers to have a nemesis.

Don't worry, don't you worry
Carry on my wayward son.

I know the movies are coming out I am saying that the new movies are their own take on the books, they are not a remake of the older films.

They do. When it's done there's a bit of a lull before they statr up the next story, though. After the second main arch I don't know what it's like, though.
By manly I think you mean homoerotic fantasy show.
Oh and the final final scene is perfect. It got applause from the crowd at the end. I am in Jersey, totally different city from mine and it got applause. Where do you people live where you don't cheer movies, that is so boring. I love crowds that are into it.
