MVP for 2014: The Wonderful 101, my personal favorite game that I played this year.
I will edit with explanations later.
Best New IP: Captain Toad
Best Nintendo exclusive: Smash
Best Sony exclusive: *crickets*
Best MS exclusive: Sunset Overdrive ( I guess)
A little. If I played ONE more game from 2014, Watch Dogs sure as hell wouldn't be on there. The top three were tough for me.
1. Tomb Raider Definitive Edtion - Played through this version twice on PS4, and that's after beating it three times on PS3! Award - Best Hair Physics In Any Game Ever!
2. The Sims 4 - I've put over 90 hours into TS4, and I'm still not done with it. Award - Best Unfinished And Poorly Marketed Game of 2014!
3. Mario Kart 8 - Not the best MK game ever, but still far better than any Smash. Award - Best Example of Karting > Smashing of 2014!

All of these games came out last year, Vader. That's the entire point, right?

Doh! So I didn't play ten games from 2014.

Well, Rayman Legends did come out in 2014 for the PS4, so I say it still counts as a 2014 game!

Finished, but WOW was it hard to think of exclusive games other than Nintendo's own!
I assume when you say exclusive, you mean exclusive to a console NOT counting if there's a PC version, right? Like The Binding of Isaac, correct?
Also, did Killer Instinct come out for Xbox One this year or last, cause I couldn't think of a single exclusive I was actually interested in. Overdrive was the ONLY one I could think of!
Strategic voting:
1. Mario Kart 8.
2. Binding of Isaac.
3. This War of Mine.

You do this to spite me.

I was thinking more exclusive exclusive but if that's all you can come up with, ok.
Did I even play 10 games this year? I may have bought 10 or more but I'm not sure I played them all.
Um, I guess I will have to list games I actually played this year, regardless of when they actually released.
Man, 2014 was a shitty year generally for gaming, look at that list.
Let me just try and remember what I played over a few days and collect it here, this is not my list order or anything:
- Halo 4
- Assasins Creed Black Flag
- Bayonetta 1 and 2
- Smash Bros
- Mario Kart U
- Fire Emblem 3DS
- Lego Batman 2
- The Wonderful 101
- Pushmo World Wii U
- Art of Balance U
- Captain Toad
I'm going to need another week or so to do my list. I got a late start on Persona Q, and its quickly turning into a favorite of mine for the year.
But I think we can all agree that Smash is going to get GOTY and Ubisoft will get Shittiest Publisher of the Year.
Shamelessly stolen from RoF:
Rules/Format:
You can pick 10 of your favorite games of the year. This top 10 list will be used to determine the final winner. The first game on your list will get 10 points. Second game will get 9, third 8 points and so on. At the end of the voting period, all points will be tallied up, and the game with the most points will be crowned our Game of the Year. Note: You don’t HAVE to pick 10 games.
Instead of just posting top 10 lists, feel free to describe what you like/dislike about the game. That makes it more fun.
As always, feel free to shit on other people’s lists. ;p I actually wanted to have a Giantbomb style discussion on the final pick for the Game of the Year where all of us go over the top 3 games and have a debate on which game deserves to be the best game of the year. Could be fun to see who is more persuasive. It’s always hilarious to hear Brad Shoemaker out debate everyone and get his way every year. Could make for a fun thread.
Example:
1) Watch Dogs – 10 points
2) AC Unity – 9 Points
3) Forza Horizon 2 – 8 Points
…
10) Mario Kart 18 – 1 Point
Voting Ends:
Sunday Jan 11th, 2015. 12:00 AM.
Extra Categories:
It’s always fun to pick weird and unusual awards, so feel free to nominate games for the following categories. If not enough votes, I will also go through the top 10 lists and pick the game with the most points to choose the winner of some these categories.
