The graphics in this game is MINDBLOWING. I can't believe I am playing something that looks like this, it is a generation leap, it is what we have been waiting for. Nothing can do the graphics justice until you actually play it for yourself. I spent most my time slowly walking around taking pictures (which is more fun then the actual combat).

GG I have some porn for you!

It's this gen's Blue Stinger.  The first time we realized that good graphics did not equate quality game.

I thought this was perfect. In the main menu there is an extras section. Cool I thought, I click on it and the only option available is view credits. LOL

...and despite it all, the more I see of the game and the more I hear about the story, I am still tempted to get it.

Any redeeming qualities, whatsoever?

If I had a PS4, I would've surely bought it too.  Then felt burned on Sunday after I finished it during the weekend.

The most glowing review of this game kept praising it over and over for being just like a PS2 game. And I can't figure out if that's really a good thing or not.

I am around 5 hours in, probably over half way done. It is a super basic cover shooter, it doesn't even try to be interesting. The set pieces are basically shooting galleries. I was stuck on this huge assault where waves and waves flooded an area for 30 minutes cause the mechanics don't work well. The super power that slows down time and auto aims is a mess, you will see when I upload the video I made. This is not like uncharted where the environment can be used to help you, normally you are on one side and enemies are up ahead. A few areas are more free form and allow actual navigation but most are in tight spaces. It has none of the intensity and great controls of gears either. This is like The Line, or that crap terminator game I played for trophies, it is just a basic cover shooter.

Now it dresses up the basic shooter with beautiful graphics, loads of QTE events (half the game is basically a quantic dream game, it's weird), and a decent story. Nothing is bad per say just that super average is bad when it comes to video games, we can't be spending so much money on just  "eh it's ok".

To me this game seems like Gears of War in 2006, but not as good. Plus the fact that at least Gears was different at the time....this game is just a copycat.

But even the graphic style reminds me of Gears, in that its very high quality but yet looks honestly kind of boring to me, same as Gears style. IDK if its the super realism or what but it just looks bland and "expected" I guess you could say. But something like The Last Of Us was really impressive to me which also goes for super realism...so I can't put my finger on it.

This game will sell truckloads regardless of quality and they're probably already working on a fucking sequel. Another thing I hate about gaming these days...games that don't deserve to be turned into franchises always do (Sony is really more guilty of this than anyone).

I'll be curious to see if it really does hit the 5 million mark that Pachter predicts (and I'm assuming that Sony is hoping for). It certainly will show that maybe negative press is pretty pointless, because that seems to be all this game is getting. At the same though there's all sorts of back and forth editorials going on about that negative press. RAD criticising the mean old internet for making up stories about game length (that were actually true), articles criticizing modern day reviews, articles praising modern day reviews, etc. It's all been a lovely circle jerk, and if the game really is successful it'll show that in the end none of it means a thing so long as you make an action game with pretty graphics.

It is insulting to compare this game to Gears. Gears understood action set pieces, gears understood that fire fights need variety. gears understood there needed to be multiple types of enemies to challenge the way you play. The Order is no where close to being as good as Gears.

Here is a video I put together showcasing some areas and different weapons as well as some issues. During the 3rd minute you will see moments I commented on that were messy. Granted those kinds of issues are NOT TYPICAL, only happened a few times but it happened.

Also pay attention to the level layout and how basic it is. You see this cool ass gun I got right, now look at how boring the section you use it in is. The arc gun was like a win button, I simply moved forward and blew anyone’s head who popped up. What was the thought around the design of that section, what was the developer going for? Was it really just so the player can say “cool I can blow off limbs”. in gears when you got the hammer of dawn you didn’t go through a shooting gallery, a gigantic monster showed up that required you to use that weapon in an interesting way, Video game design 101.

Also the video does not do the game justice in the graphics.

Looks like modern day 3rd-person Medal of Honor Frontline.
