Bugs me and Steel tried to follow your paths. LOL, they let us into trees and signposts or open fields. LOLLOLOLOL

Good times. Brought the kitten back to GG's town, and the mother met her at the very gates to scold her, lol. Then both thanked me and went away. Too bad it wouldn't let me take any pic.

GG gave me pears and oranges, if at least one of each trees grow, I'll be set with fruit and be ready to start evening out trees, since I have a shitload of cherries now, less of a shitload of apples, one peach tree and three, no, five palm trees.

I wish I could buy flowers more than once a day. I hadn't noticed than an eagle from gg's town moved with me, lol. The bright side is that an annoying frog is planning to leave. Good riddance. Hope she lands on Fortress.

Bought a fake painting from Redd. Sonofabitch. And sold my turnips at GG's Nooks.

Don't give up, bugsy. Path setting and landscaping is something of an ever evolving work. You can never be satisfied with the way your town looks. (Especially if it looks the way mine looks, but I digress). Still, it was awesome to watch both GG and me diving headfirst into a sign or a tree while following your paths. LOL

If you want to have more flowers in your town, then plant your flowers diagonally from each other, leaving a space on the left, right, front, and back of them. Planting diagonally will help your flowers to create new flowers in those open spaces. It also allows you to breed rare flowers like black roses and such. Check this Flower guide for more info.

It's fairly random, I believe, but you greatly increase your chances by planting them diagonally, clearing any nearby weeds, and making sure to water wilted flowers on a daily basis. I have seen new flowers breed in a day or two. Sometimes it takes longer.

EDIT: The guide shows this, but I probably should mention it too. You have to group flowers of the same species together (i.e. roses with roses; tulips with tulips). Mixing different species of flowers together (i.e. tulips with roses) won't work in breeding.

Animal Crossing DS is my favorite game in the series. It's almost exactly like the Wii version except the town is smaller, no city, there are fewer items to collect,  and it doesn't have that godawful animal tracks feature. That being said, if it weren't for animal tracks, AC Wii would be the superior game.

wild world really is an awesome game but you will miss the community we have here which is a huge part so i would suggest to get the Wii version as cheaply as you can or be patient until May 8th if you can.

i understand what you say completely and there's no two ways about animal tracks being a stupid feature.  it's a real shame though you couldn't be patient and work around it so you could enjoy the multitude of great things about this game.  sometimes it's worth putting up with a little bullshit to get to the good part.  and it's sad because i can tell you miss a lot about this game.

I appear to have hidden half my other GC games too, which was a silly thing to do, as some of them don't even have wii versions!

LOL Seriously, it was hilarious. Steel was following behind me as we tried to explore your town via the paths and we ended up in the middle of an open field. Stopping point blank with trees in our faces and at signposts. Grinning

Dont blame me for the postal service. The cherry I gave you before, you dug up like a butterfingered fool Nyaa I sent you an axe in the mail, vader too.

Dont be tempted. Get City Folk and hook up with me, Bugs, Travo and Steel. I have wild world, great game but City Folk is better all around. It combines the best of GC and DS animal Crossing and adds lots of stuff to boot. You might as well get the best (most complete) AC game out.

Here, this review tells you about the new stuff:

http://www.destructoid.com/destructoid-review-animal-crossing-city-folk-113842.phtml

  1. SD card support for pics
  2. Online auctions
  3. Voice chat
  4. The city
  5. Better visuals
  6. Mii Support
  7. and a fuckton more - read the review.

The catalogs of the fish and bugs you've collected are now fully animated. At the local beauty salon, you can now purchase any of your Mii's faces (which, sadly, isn't half as creepy or Leatherface-inspired as it sounds) to be worn whenever you like. You can still design your own pixel-based texture maps to be used as billboards, flags, grass-replacing ground textures, etc. -- but now, if you're designing them to be used as shirt patterns, you can design the front, back, and sleeves of the shirt as well. You can go to the town hall and complain about other villagers who you think are too sloppy or rude. Walk across the same stretch of grass for a few days in a row, and a dirty path will form in the grass. You can randomly bust in on the Resetti brothers' secret HQ and totally freak them out. The guy who runs the coffee shop with store your gyroids for you if you kiss his ass for long enough. Bees are easier to catch. Fish have more unpredictable AI. The tri-force animation now has a little glow at the end. In City Folk, there are more fish, bugs, furniture, clothes, tools, and songs to collect.

You can pay the town 200,000 bells (bells = in-game currency) to build a new bridge, 500,000 bells to build a wishing well, or 1,000,000 bells to build a lighthouse or a windmill.

City Folk also features Gracie Grace, a huge department store where all the stuff costs ten times what it should (which is exactly why you'll want it all.) There are also wearable helmets to make you look like Nintendo icons, such as Samus, Link, Midna, Toad, and even Majora's Mask. These accessories, along with many other Nintendo-themed items, can only be bought with "shopping points", and the only way to get those is to shop at Tom Nook's store. It's like Club Nintendo, but inside a Nintendo game. Maybe it isn't as cool as the playable NES games found in the original Animal Crossing, but it's damn close.

Had enough of this massive list of new stuff in City Folk? Well, too bad, because now it's time to go over the new character interactions. All the holidays (and the special villagers that come with them) from the GameCube Animal Crossing are back. There are also two holidays that make their debut in City Folk, Easter and Mardi Gras, as well as a host of country-specific holidays for the Korean, Japanese, and European versions of the game. There are over 200 villagers, 50 of them being brand new (including a British bird named Sterling, wot wot) who come equipped with thousands of lines of new dialog. Their banter ranges from the straight-up quirky ("Did you know I was crowned Little Miss paranormal?") to the wacky ("That's vicious, like a poison viper with laser eyes.") to quirky-wacky ("Just think of all the cornbread you could conjure if you knew magic!"). The types of interactions you might have with a villager have also increased. Now they may want to play hide-and-seek with you for cash and prizes, or teach you a new nickname (and not the other way around). Other times, they'll get locked out of their house, and ask you to find their key (which can only be obtained by fishing for it in the river).

72790-468x-tables.jpg

The game's NPCs will also ask you to interact with other real-life players. Just yesterday, a blue elephant named Axel asked me to tell the other human player in my town to "remember the word clothes". Sure enough, when the other person I share my Wii with next played City Folk, she got accosted by the same elephant, who demanded to know if I told her "the word." When she typed in "clothes," all was right with the world. He gave us both presents just for talking to each other, and couldn't stop shooting flowers out of his face (he does that when he's happy).

That's actually an example of the one place where City Folk really works to win over players who were previously cold to the series. Though the game can be played alone with no ill effects, its multiplayer options are the by far the best the series has seen yet. Even if your friends are offline, you can still sell them stuff in your in-game auction house, or send them in-game letters and items through the game's postal system. This is a great way trade items with online strangers whom you don't necessarily want to interact with. If you do want to interact with people you've traded (ugh) friend codes with, you can engage in text-based chat just like in Wild World, or use the Wii Speak peripheral for honest-to-god online voice communication.

72786-468x-multiplayer.jpg

It's the Wii Speak features that really make City Folk stand out. There still aren't formal "games" you can play online, but if you do want to create your own activities (hide-and-seek, bug/fish-catching tournaments, snowball soccer, torture-the-villager competitions, zombie Mii mask-enabled Left 4 Dead matches, etc.), Wii Speak makes the process much more fun. It's hard to imagine ever going back to text-based chat now. With Wii Speak, running around and yelling at your friends in City Folk really feels like being a kid again, running around in a friend's backyard and playing with sticks. That's an experience that you just can't have if you need to stop and text every five seconds.

Even if you don't have your Wii online at all, City Folk still allows for you to visit a friend's town. You can store your character in your DS, physically carry your DS to a friend's Wii, and then upload him/her to your friend's City Folk. After grabbing all the stuff you want, you can then re-save your character on your DS and bring him/her back home

I know that newegg deal is sweet but the thing is I have all these gift cards so I need a retail store to drop it to that price. I dont think Best Buy price matches online only stores. I figure I can wait, I know it may take a month but at the end of that month I will have Animal Crossing back and I could still get another game, which I have been planning to do so, odds are it will be Punch-Out.

Retail is tough. Maybe do the target deal and sell the other games on ebay to get more cash back?

IGN have this whole punch out article that really puts me off. Sounds like a basic remake with a complete lack of modes.

I played the game everyday for two months. Watching my town's grass literally being destroyed right before my eyes was enough to push me over the edge. It got to the point that I just wasn't having fun with it anymore. I put up with the BS for as long as I could.

Sorry, but I'm not going to play that game again until Nintendo fixes this problem, which will never happen, so I'm done with it.

I'm glad to see you guys are enjoying it, though.

I can understand that, but there is a fix now that we know about it. If you start a new game you can just lay down paths. Literally once you have those down you dont wear down anything. And if there are smudges they are easily healed via flowers man. Honestly, I have seen how fast this stuff grows. It will be tougher for someone like Steel who has some pretty bad damage. But for new guys like Bugs and Vader, once they've laid it down they have no problems at all. It's like a couple of sessions work and its done. If you had a new save file, no problems at all really.

I lay my paths so I can literally see if there are any new fossils or gyroids and you CAN go offroad to get them and not cause any damage. Just don't run about like a fool endlessly. Just walk to your dig spot, grab it and then go back to the pathway. Its like walking on sidewalks in reality and not running like a psycho all over the flowerbeds and grass, or roads.

I have posted the 12 days of growth pics in the tracks thread. It's grown some more in the past few days, I will get a pic up later in that thread to show its growth. All the pics are dated by the AC on-screen clock. I tried to grow from absolute bare ground to full coverage. So far it's 70% there?
