The Future of Insert Coin (important!!!)

I think we can mess with the headlines and maybe even do re-writes that play up the situations. But we can't take it (too) far or the news becomes too much of a joke for those that actually want to follow gaming news.
Well same idea as before, but the frontpage will be our opinions but extremely satirical. So same idea, but satire, plus we could keep it up a week, satire will not be old in a week right?
I suggest keeping the gg weekly not overly saterical, people might get tired of it if we over do it.
So in short once a week an satical newspaper front where we write crazy titles and stories. GG weekly like an advertisment page, satire tuned down. Agree?
@GG the fronpage is weekly changed not GG weekly itself, that will change by the minute! And satire will not age quickly, see for example all the Webcomics.

I honestly don't know what to say about this.
Whatever you do its fine by me.

"There is a disadvantage though. The newspaper will be released once a day and there shall not be updates per minute like we have now. All the news that is found after that shall be published in the next newspaper. But a small price to pay for all the other positive points."
This would seriously suck considering I actually use this for news. My needs are important! Oh and I'm deeply offended by you not mentioning my blogs.
Well I've had a few ideas for the lay-out so I'm going to do some completely professionally unprofessional mock-ups for you to call shit and then make me cry.

^^Foolz read my comment 2 post above, we might have another plan. GG weekly is here to stay, read it we might need your talents.
Oh sure show us the mock ups. Do not worry about the beauty, worry about the functionality.
P.S. bog what blogs? I thought you quit. And I did insult your country and called you a barbarian right.

Yeah, that makes up for its somewhat!

There it is! Kinda didn't work due to me being too lazy to move the text around properly in arcsoft, and I forgot to add in the all stories tab.
Basically though STOP THE PRESSES! is for breaking news, and must read is for the popular stories. Bellow that should be all the stories of the week or whatever. I might try re-doing it with the satirical idea in mind. This time I'll draw it, so you'll just have to put up with my ilegible writing.

The newspaper idea is a good one if its not done real time. Like say a daily "paper" of the days news, we just rearrange the best news of the day into this format. The live stuff remains the same. Good stuff.
I just don't like how newspapers are all in black and white and have little pictures.
And yeah Gaming Planet sounds better then "Insert Coin".

Right... Iga you completely lost me with the top post on page 3 here. Like completely.
My comprimise is having an updated news feed on the right hand side in a small bar and having the main stories on the front page each day with satirised headlines and blurbs. But this means that we only add to the workload we already have updating GGWeekly.

Anyhow, my mockup. But I forgot about a few options. I can't be bothered to amend it.

GG one of my ideas was to keep GG weekly and change the look only.
About the front page: it will be updated once a week. We will do it in the weekend and it will be satirical, in both title and content. So we will even do the text in satire. Understand?

Ah. Yes I understand now. I don't really think it's worth it however. Having a page that is updated once a week means that people read the front page on monday then forget about it and avoid it the rest of the week.
I would prefer an ever changing front page, with headlines and blurbs written satirically each day. A weekly editorial. Scrapping the GG Weekly feature but still maintaining a continuous news feed on the front page in a small vertical bar.
And then moving all discussion into forums.

GG check this out!!
This is a Dutch newspaper. To the left you see a column with lesser news. We could do that, two problems however. A scrolling bar is kinda ugly, so it needs to look pretty.
Second thing you will lose oversight. Being that you will only see one row, and at best we shall only see the last 10 news topic at best.
A solution can be: a button when pressed will show all the updates on a single page. It shall also be in newspaper from, but more like an advertisment page.
We could make it possible to post comments at the bottom of the page. That will be refreshed each week. See Gamespot where each news story has a place for the users to comment.

An earlier concept I had for news display on the front page was a news ticker that scrolls horizontally with just the headlines. This would work with a separate page for the full list and details.

Using the GTA example, we could not only adjust the headline, but suggest in the article something along the lines of
"many feel this could well lead urban warfare in American suburbs. The excessive use of alcohol as a weapon also threatens the country's supply of liquor."
But along the normal news method, what you stated was what I mainly had in mind.
