Yes!  This is exciting!  You can tall by all the exclamation marks I'm using!

Anyhow, there seem to be many theories floating around about the new trailer and if we'll really be playing as Link or not, and if it's a coincidence that Skyward Sword HD is releasing before BotW2, which now also features bits up in the air.

Some things I gleaned from the trailer:

  1. we don't get to see 'sky link's face.  He just has a similar build and a different hairdo.
  2. when we see the mechanical arm thing connect, the hand has long fingernails

What bits did you guys here catch and do you think the story will be wide out there like some theories (you play as Zelda, it's a redemption story and you play as Ganon, ...) suggest?

I think it will a future link, and that his face has been corrupted.

I'll just say this. Breath of the Wild was very much a game changer for Nintendo. It was the only game they brought to E3 that year, and they still managed in most people's mind to win the show with just that. It's a large reason why so many people were willing to throw down for the Switch. Whatever it is they have planned for it, I wouldn't underestimate it. It's been in development for 4 years so something's going on.

I know there was a little concern about reusing Hyrule from the original, but seeing as how there's big chunks of land ripped out, I suspect they're going to go the route that world of Warcraft did with Cataclysm, and reshape a lot of what we remember.

Plus I still maintain that as much of the game that will be in the sky will also be underground. That first trailer made it look like they were in caves. The second reveal was all about the sky. I think the third wheel possibly focus on all of the other changes on the surface.

Nintendo said they're not showing the title yet because it contains a spoiler for the story.  Any guesses?

Mine would be: 'The Legend of Zelda: more or less the same story again'

I don't get this story spoiler. When you buy the game before you play it, you will see thr title on the damned box.

I guess they feel it'll be a big deal and they just don't want to give it away yet. If it's something like zelda's oddissey it's clearly a big spoiler and they'll want to control when to build up hype.

BTW how did everyone feel about zeldas character design change in BOTW. And her character portrayal? Also, no one bought Age of Calamity yet? Anyone try the demo?

I liked her design and character portrayal myself.

I bought Age of Calamity when it came out and have played through some of it. Been enjoying it, need to get back to it.

I really liked the demo but the inconsistent frame rate put me off a bit. Does if feel like a BOTW prequel?

So far, yes it does. There’s missions where you fight your way through hordes of enemies to get to the big giant mechs and then you can pilot them using their attacks to smash through more hordes of enemies. Not sure how far I’ve gotten to in the game though so need to play more of it. I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve played so far though and it’s cool playing through events prior to Breath of the Wild.

My nephew is playing wii u Hyrule Warriors right now. No anti aliasing? Character models look great in close ups though. Game seems simpler and more repetitive than Age of Calamity

I really enjoyed Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U, even got the dlc for it. Wouldn’t mind getting the Switch version as well.

We ran about the same level for what seemed like ages before eventually tasting defeat.

Yeah some stages can take quite a bit of time to finish.

That's a complaint, not a speculation!  Go make your own thread.
