Spoilers. Do you care about them or not?

They way I see it there are story spoilers (the most obvious) and there are gameplay spoilers.

I honestly don't care about story spoilers. I mean, I barely pay attention at all. Case in point, I beat HL2Ep2 THIS YEAR and had forgotten who dies at the end (or that anyone died at the end) until someone pointed it out to me a couple fo weeks ago.

But gameplay spoilers generally disrupt my enjoyment of a game.

You know, like "then about half-way through the game they give you a gravity gun/ flying machine/ phoenix that lets you blast massive holes in the moon".  I hate that stuff.  Because to me the only wonderment that comes from gaming is discovering new gameplay mechanics.  LIke the thing they introduce in the final hours of Uncharted 3, or the stuff on disc three of Blue Dragon... if that had been spoiled for me before I got to it I'd be pissed.

How 'bout you folks?

Gameplay spoilers are the worse. I try I avoid them as much as possible. I rarely remember stories in games. I can't tel you what happened in the last AC game. I just beat Halo 3 and I already forgot what happened during it. It's the gameplay segments I remember.

Kind of depends on the genre. When you find out that Aeris dies in the middle of FFVII 2 months before the game is even released because some douchebag with a Japanese copy of the game just has to let you know that he's working on how she can be resurrected.... well that kind of fucks up the game for you a little.

I'm the other way around, I hate story spoilers but don't really care about gameplay spoilers.

Im the same way. I actually like hearing about gameplay stuff is in a game, and different levels and design, different enemys and stuff. That is harmless fun stuff to talk about as far as I am concerned. I dont really like most game stories but for me to have ANY chance of liking them it canèt be spoiled ahead of time.

Why do you think that is?

Gameplay spoilers are why I avoid preview shots and trailers of games I am interested in.  Yakuza is the worst in both areas. It's like a daily drip of spoilers from SEGA.

This. Though it depends on the game, really.

Podcasts must be torture for you. No wonder you're trying to bury impressions at the end of them! Nyaa

I like to experience a game's story as it happens which is why I generally don't want story spoilers. As for gameplay spoilers it's just not something I'm too worried about because it's something I'll do or use multiple times and it'll be fun and cool for most if not all of those times. Story spoilers will have an emotional impact only once and then it's pretty much done.

Ummm, if there is a game I am interested in I will read almost everything about it and look at every screen. I don't like big story spoilers, there are some stories with twists in them that would be ruined if you knew them in advance like a Shalayman movie.

What was the last game you were interested in that you absorbed every spoiler-laden preview for?

Why would you do that?  I don't doubt or judge you, but why would you ruin your gaming experiece by learning everything about it before you experienced it yourself?

(Again not judging, just want a greater understanding).

Probably Zombi U now. I also looked at everything Mario Galaxy related and Animal Crossing related now.

I don't ruin anything, these things are not that important to me in gaming. I have to play it to experience it, reading about it or seeing screens is not the same. I worry about spoilers for TV series I watch.

I guess the thing with Nintendo is that they are very careful with their PR distributions to go out of their way to keep certain things hidden (like the entire second half of Super Mario Land 3D).

I think they are just PR inept.
