Umm, I don't want to jinx you, but your 360 might be on its way to kick the bucket. That checked pattern has appeared each time my two previous 360s went belly up.

Hope it's just regular crashes, though.

Oh for ***** sake! I barely use the thing.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter how much you use it. When mine went RRoD, I hadn't used it in several months; and it was unplugged that entire time too. It also never shown any signs of dying either. It worked perfectly all the way up until the day of the dreaded RRoD.

My replacement 360 has worked perfectly since, *knocks on wood* but it sounds like an effing lawnmower. It's much, much louder than my first one. Sad Oh, well. As long as it works, then I'm happy, I guess. Happy

Yeah, so my 360 is dying now. I checked it with another game other than RE5 last night and yeah, it's freezing up frequently now, within a few seconds of starting the game. Even on the home menu. Even on the boot up sequence.

It's all the more suprising given how infrequently I use it. This is the first time I've turned it on in a few months, it was unplugged too. This is atrocious. I had 3 original Xboxs and now the 360 conks out on me. How do MS expect to build any brand loyalty when this crap happens? They better pay for the repairs for free, including postage or I'm done.

I was just getting into RE5 too, I switched control schemes again at Vaders suggestion and that made things much better. I was semi-enjoying it when Sheva wasn't in my face and when she wasn't crying for ammo and useless crap that had me diving into a completely unintuitive menu and then running defenceless to her to save her ass for the umpteenth time.

And then my xbox crashed, again and again and again. And then again with a different game.

RE5 is totally RE Zero with RE4's engine.

Actually, I liked Zero more.

This is like the RE Zero of RE4 games.

I'm all for co-op and having a second character, but why force me to play it in single player like this? Sad

Never say that blasphemy! Its not RE Zero, Zero was sucky on top of having all those extra partner issues. RE5 is awesome, but has the extra partner issues. I agree though, single player should have just stayed single player.

Really, if they just take out sheva and put the suitcase feature back to what it was you have a better game there. Its so frustrating that something so elegant has been messed around with. Where is my weapon merchant too? I have to die to get back to the shop?

Ammo is found on dead people as well as crates and desks in the environment, its just like RE4.

Oh, weird, I found that they crammed all the ammo in one room and didn't let me know about it. Weird. Hard to gather ammo when people are attacking though. Enemies seem a little dumber than RE4, they often let me just run away from them or run right past them.

I had no problem playing Zero first time through, but strangely I can't bring myself to play through it again. I get midway through the train level and give up. This has happened twice.

You've made it halfway through twice? That counts as completing it.

Oh man. Sucks to hear about your dying 360. It seems to be on his way to an epic hardware failure, so cheer up. If it takes too long, towel that bitch up in order to get a 3 red light failure. An E74 error is fine too. Just leave it running from now on as much as possible, it'll eventually give up and die.

If you get anything else than a RRoD or an E74, don't mention that to MS. Just call CS, tell them that you got a 3 red light failure, and send the system to them.

I would towel it but I dont want a fire.

I will check it again tonight and if its not working, I guess I will try and leave it on constantly to see what happens. I saw my bro today and I didn't even know, I knew he had one 360 replaced but he hit with the clanger that he had to send the second one back too. Unbelievable. It's like every single person I know with a 360 has had to have it repaired or replaced at some point.

It's a risk we owners of 360s take for granted since buying the console. Nihilism is the first and most important trait of the 360 gamer. The sooner you assume that Thanatos' cold grasp is only a few games away from your console, the better. I am on my third 360, Aza is on his fourth, you are on your way to your second one, consider the total number of 360 owners that hang around here and you can get an idea of how unbelievably cheap and shitty is the hardware.

If you don't want to towel it just put it somewhere without too much ventilation. That'll do.

Hell, considering how lame the hardware is, just fart loudly while standing next to it. It'll fall apart.

It's really just unbelievable when I stop and think about how many people have had the system crap out. Even Raven and you, Edgecrusher, Archangel too? Who else here has a 360? I guess Beaver is a new owner so he wont be hit for a while. I just assumed it was something that would happen to other people and that I was a lucky one with a golden system - that would last longer because I was a light user.

I thought it was RE5 crashing it but the Darkness crashed it too. I'm going to check a few other games before bed and see what happens.

Yep. My first one, Premium, had the lens die on it. It still works otherwise since I can play anything off the HDD. My second one, Arcade, RRoD on me so I sent it in for a free replacement which I have currently. I used my first one to play my XBLA games and demos to get me by while waiting for the second one to get replaced.

It really sucks too, because the 360 is really the best all around system this gen. Its gets the most polished games and it has the best variety of software. Hell it even has the best RPG's....didnt see THAT coming.

But you have to deal with it being the biggest turd ever produced in order to enjoy its software. This thing makes the PS2 seem like a beast of durability.

Two crapped out on your Archangel?

Well I tried again last night. I tried Mass Effect and it worked. Great I thought. Then every other game I tried froze. On RE5 I got the red and white checkered pattern again. I left it on for few hours stuck on a title screen, hoping for the RROD but nothing.

I can't even believe I'm contemplating this, but I may have to get an extension cord and outside, wrap it in a wet towel and leave it on, hoping that the insides will melt. This is bizzare and harrowing. Sad

Edge I agree as a traditional console it gets superb multiplatform support and usually the best versions of games compared to PS3. For variety though I like the ecletic stuff the wii gets more.

It's such a shame though, Fallout 3 was next on my list and now that's out the picture. I was sort of liking RE5 too, apart from the two characters and item menus.

Is your friend.

It doesn't have to be wet, though, you are going to electrocute yourself. LOL

Mother*******.  I thought you said wet. I was going to do it next week. You almost killed me Steel!

I demand you send me the fire extinguisher in Animal Crossing. I have one already but just to be sure.

LOL You have some weird death wish. I can't quite recall having said "wet towel". Nyaa

Just put books or something to block ventilation. Although, considering how it's already freezing at an alarming rate, I believe the end is near. Towel or not.

It better be. What if I put a hair dryer and blow hot air into the vents? Good idea?

Could help, but it's going to be very tiring to keep doing that because the thing could still take one day or one week to finally go belly up.
