Looks sooooo amazing!!! We got a release date too, can’t wait until January. Early next year is looking to be absolutely jam packed with awesome games.
I liked RE2 but I dont see why it has such nostalgia around it. I think I preffered Code Veronica overall.

Did you play the first two games at release? Or was Code Veronica your first game?
I'm playing Code Veronica now on PS4...first time in awhile. They did some really cool things with it thanks to using the Dreamcast tech at the time, but overall RE2 is the better package. It was THE best old school RE title.
I'm so hyped for this it's insane. It looks exactly like I was hoping...a true horror experience in the modern style.
This is really the best time for them to be making this game too. As cool as a RE2 remake would have been back in the Gamecube days if it had followed the template of REmake, when you think about the way RE2 was set up to be bigger and badder than the original game with the virus taking over the entire city...that's something that could have really only been done to it's full potential today.
In the original, they had to kind of fool you into thinking you were in this huge city because the consoles couldn't handle it. Now, they can literally do whatever they want. Expand the shit out of existing areas and open everything up.
I'll be taking a vacation January 25th for sure.

AMAZING!
Holy shit that off screen video! All my fears of combat are gone, they are totally going for classic combat but with modern aiming and it works! You need to aim for a long while to get a clear precision shot which is perfect for a tense decision to shoot wildly and maybe miss or wait for that perfect hit. Headshots dont instant kill, thats key as ammo has to be wasted for a game like this to work. Three headshots to kill a zombie, thats a perfect ratio for damage. No melee stunners, cant have that in old RE, you can switch to knife like the old days. The flashlight goes away in certain situations leaving you in total darkness, creepy as hell. Its slow, methodical, its PERFECT.
Few things I noticed, there is a second floor to the reception room. I wonder if the knife is an infinite get out of zombie bite free attack. There is another knife in the locker so maybe your knife does run out or something. I saw the backpack!

I first played RE2, then RE3, then Code Veronica on Dreamcast.
Then Remake on GC, then RE0 etc.
I guess people who played RE2 on Playstation when it was originally out, it was a bigger deal back then?

I dunno, it sounds like you are praising the game for having jankier combat because that is what jankier combat played like back then. I don't particularly want to have to headshot something 3 times to kill it.
I watched the trailer and gameplay footage. At first I was super pumped, felt like this would be the game to get me to buy a new console maybe. Then as I watched more I kinda felt like what's the point? Now I'm sure my old rose tinted glasses is remembering it wrong - but it looked so faithful to the original game I could almost navigate through the new game from memory.
Just like this. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
I'm done on info for the game I think.
I know all I need to just from the trailer so I'm going to try to go on blackout until January 25th now. I know it's going the direction I wanted, now I just want everything else to be a surprise when I play it.
So it's Resident Evil 2 ala Resident Evil 4 but in the Resident Evil 7 engine?
Watched a 17+ minute gameplay video and damn does this game ever look freaking awesome. This is an incredibly extensive remake. They’ve clearly done a ton of work on this. So pumped for this game.

If that's the case then I'm sold.
I showed the trailer to a friend who has never really liked RE and he was blown away. That's a good sign for Capcom.

There are loads of new areas and remixed rooms, almost everything is new. The combat is exactly what it needs to be. You have to manage your inventory and be fearful of combat against even a zombie, this is not RE4. This is not an action game. Its the traditional survival horror action with much better combat mechancis.
