FUCKING AMAZING!!!!! I cant stop watching this trailer, its a dream come true. Ever since RE4 I have wanted to see RE2 come to life in that style. Right in the thick of things, crazy detailed graphics, and they delivered!!!! I see rooms I grew up going into faithfully recreated in glorious detail, I am so happy. Plus they seem to be changing stuff and adding things in all the right ways.

Those zombie animations, so good. Looks like it will have the best hit detection in a RE title, screen shots show an arm falling off (of course thats from RE2 as well). One has Leon taking out his knife when a zombie grabs him so there maybe some type of defense ability. I wonder if headshots will be instant kills, might make things a little to easy but clearly they upped the amount of zombies to make up for the better aiming. Limited ammo has to be in or the balance will be way on Leon's side, aiming makes killing much easier, make the bullets count.

From Capcom blog:
Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.
Not being to straight forward with this camera angle stuff. Not sure what gameplay modes from the original game means, Hunk Tofu? We will find out tomorrow, the demo will be shown, Sony has it at 7pm on their stream. But Yama and CVX will be playing it well before that.
Now this is from PS Blog:
If you know the classic Raccoon City Police Department like the back of your hand, some parts of the station might look familiar, but don’t let the similarities fool you. While many of the locations may look similar in design to the one in the original game, this museum-turned-police station is full of surprises for both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. Various puzzles to solve and completely new areas to explore await those who dare to set foot inside the expansive building. With a new over-the-shoulder camera offering a different perspective on the cramped passageways and massive foyer, you’ll need to keep your wits about you if you want to survive the nightmares that lurk around every corner.
Fans might remember that a particularly close-range shotgun blast in the original game could literally blast zombies in half, and that visceral, desperate feeling of combat is still present. Claustrophobic corridors will keep you on your toes, and with each shot that connects, zombies will show damage in real-time, adding a new level of gore to combat. Combined with an over-the-shoulder camera to keep you immersed in the world and limited spaces to hold your items, you might just find yourself playing with the lights on.
Game of dreams! Puzzle solving. New areas. All the elements from old RE are making it in. IT IS CLASSIC RE (with MUCH better combat, win win). Still no mention of fixed angles. I feel its going to be scripted scenes, if it was a full mode I would think one of these write ups would mention it.

Okay so let me ask a stupid question. I never got very far in the original. I just could not deal with the game's controls. No fun at all. This game is going to have a more modern action feel to it right?

I liked RE2 but I dont see why it has such nostalgia around it. I think I preffered Code Veronica overall.

Did you play the first two games at release? Or was Code Veronica your first game?

I'm playing Code Veronica now on PS4...first time in awhile. They did some really cool things with it thanks to using the Dreamcast tech at the time, but overall RE2 is the better package. It was THE best old school RE title.

I'm so hyped for this it's insane. It looks exactly like I was hoping...a true horror experience in the modern style.

This is really the best time for them to be making this game too. As cool as a RE2 remake would have been back in the Gamecube days if it had followed the template of REmake, when you think about the way RE2 was set up to be bigger and badder than the original game with the virus taking over the entire city...that's something that could have really only been done to it's full potential today.

In the original, they had to kind of fool you into thinking you were in this huge city because the consoles couldn't handle it. Now, they can literally do whatever they want. Expand the shit out of existing areas and open everything up.

I'll be taking a vacation January 25th for sure.

Holy shit that off screen video! All my fears of combat are gone, they are totally going for classic combat but with modern aiming and it works! You need to aim for a long while to get a clear precision shot which is perfect for a tense decision to shoot wildly and maybe miss or wait for that perfect hit. Headshots dont instant kill, thats key as ammo has to be wasted for a game like this to work. Three headshots to kill a zombie, thats a perfect ratio for damage. No melee stunners, cant have that in old RE, you can switch to knife like the old days. The flashlight goes away in certain situations leaving you in total darkness, creepy as hell. Its slow, methodical, its PERFECT.

Few things I noticed, there is a second floor to the reception room. I wonder if the knife is an infinite get out of zombie bite free attack. There is another knife in the locker so maybe your knife does run out or something. I saw the backpack!

I first played RE2, then RE3, then Code Veronica on Dreamcast.

Then Remake on GC, then RE0 etc.

I guess people who played RE2 on Playstation when it was originally out, it was a bigger deal back then?

I dunno, it sounds like you are praising the game for having jankier combat because that is what jankier combat played like back then. I don't particularly want to have to headshot something 3 times to kill it.

I watched the trailer and gameplay footage. At first I was super pumped, felt like this would be the game to get me to buy a new console maybe. Then as I watched more I kinda felt like what's the point? Now I'm sure my old rose tinted glasses is remembering it wrong - but it looked so faithful to the original game I could almost navigate through the new game from memory.

Just like this. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

I'm done on info for the game I think. LOL

I know all I need to just from the trailer so I'm going to try to go on blackout until January 25th now. I know it's going the direction I wanted, now I just want everything else to be a surprise when I play it.

So it's Resident Evil 2 ala Resident Evil 4 but in the Resident Evil 7 engine?

Watched a 17+ minute gameplay video and damn does this game ever look freaking awesome. This is an incredibly extensive remake. They’ve clearly done a ton of work on this. So pumped for this game.

I showed the trailer to a friend who has never really liked RE and he was blown away. That's a good sign for Capcom.

Man these videos, its incredible, its everything I could have dreamed of. The key thing when taking an old location to OTS view was how to do you make cramped hallways with simple zombies scary when you can just blast everything in the head or move around easier. What they have done with the zombies just works, it takes multiple bullets just like the old games. Leon doesn't have many new moves, no melee attacks for instance. The aiming is almost as simple as it was before, aim up, center or down but now with more hit points that have a reaction. The end result of damage out put is the same, zombies are obstacles in your path  that will reduce your bullet count and are pesky enough in these tight hallways to get a hold of you if you arent careful running around them. The essence of that entire dynamic from the old games is totally intact and it needed to be intact for this to work.
The aiming part of the combat will really shine in boss battles or against fast moving enemies. Now the battle against G-type doesn't have to be run, turn shoot in general direction, run, turn shoot in general direction and repeat. You can do things like move while aiming, have some form of context dodges. Give the bosses clear weak points where aiming is key. Have aiming at specific limbs stun the boss out of an attack. You can turn the weakest part of the old games combat into a huge strength while maintaining the balance of not making this game feel like an action game. Also this will be great for lickers, cerberus, birds, things  that are supposed to be fast an agile, now aiming skill is key.
Its the hybrid take the positives of the RE4 aiming but make it a true classic RE game I have waited for since RE4. We have seen hints of it, in the RE5 DLC, in Revelations, but they never really went full old school style until now.

There are loads of new areas and remixed rooms, almost everything is new. The combat is exactly what it needs to be. You have to manage your inventory and be fearful of combat against even a zombie, this is not RE4. This is not an action game. Its the traditional survival horror action with much better combat mechancis.

I can’t wait to see how some of the later parts in the game are going to look.

Couple of things that bothered me a little. First off they are going with a super realistic style visuals? I expected a more classic capcom arcadey look to the characters. Leon's character model is off. He looks like a 17 year old boy. It's irritating me.
