I said "MORE" oriented compared to Soul Reaver, can you read, apparently not.
Clearly I have better taste than you cause only insane people think Shadowman is anywhere in the same league as Soul Reaver. Seriously WTF.
I dont get what is happening here. I am putting a ban on Shadowman talk in this thread. Make a Shadowman love thread if you like.

I know what you said. And I never compared Shadowman to Soul Reaver.
And all the people that prefer Shadowman did not say they liked it more because it was more action oriented. The criticism at Shadowman in this thread and everywhere else is that they got lost because the game is very non linear.
Oh and people that are Sonic fans should think twice before calling someone insane.

I am a reasonable Sonic fan, not a crazy one like the one I showed you guys. There is a difference. And never forget that Sonic was one of the greatest franchises of the 16-bit era, there is a reason there are fans.
The criticism at Shadowman is that it felt sloppy. It excelled at nothing, its not memorable at all, it was just a good action/adventure game, nothing special. And yeah it was a mess to get around. Games that I compare to Shadowman in quality (not that they play the same) are games like Nightmare Creatures or Blood Omen 2 or Bloodrayne. It was just ok for me, I enjoyed playing it but it was a forgetful experience. I am kind of surprised how many members here played it (and seem to enjoy it more than most).

You did not just compare the Shadowman to that awful Bloodrayne.

I never played Bloodrayne, I thought it was considered a 7ish range game and they both have that kind of average action/adventure game look to them. Is Bloodrayne a crappy game?

Bloodrayne is the definition of a crappy game. If people gave it a 7, then they overrated it by far. I'd give it a 3 or 4 max.

That's how I feel about Soul Reaver, it was easy to play as it had decent controls and it was fairly quick to pootle around. But it did nothing that made me feel it was anything other than a decent game.
Soul Reaver was one of the best most polished adventure games of its time. Hell its better than most of the ones that came out last gen, including Wind Waker & Okami IMO.
The only reviews I could bother finding for Shadowman were gamespot and IGN.
Gamespot seems to have retroactively reduced their score for the game to 6.9 which is strange as if you read the text they call it solid-gold game design in the review.
"Thanks to the sprawling levels, this game delivers plenty of multiple endings and opportunity for exploration, which is a huge plus in terms of value: Don't expect to beat this game in a night or two. Shadow Man embodies the spirit of solid-gold game design: a worthwhile, captivating storyline; gameplay that lets you choose your own path; and tons of hidden areas to discover. Although the adult themes and occasional swear words may make it unsuitable for younger players, for most other players it's definitely worth looking into."
IGN gave it a 9.1 Outstanding in their review.
"It's a game that features never-ending, non-linear fashioned exploration of Zelda-esque proportions that truly challenges players to think and devise solutions to puzzles. It's a dark, atmospheric, eerie journey that should be played alone, with the volume turned up and with the lights off."
"It's rare that a videogame sparks interest in a film and comic book, but Shadow Man's got it where it counts. Well executed game elements drawn from a fantastic storyline. Maybe it's idea of an extremely adult game on the N64 that's turning me on, but Shadow Man fills more than one void in the console's library. A nice smooth Hi Rez game with some of the biggest environments you've seen since some of the outdoor levels of Goldeneye. And it's also a dark third person shoot-em-up that could be described as an older, disillusioned uncle to the upcoming Jet Force Gemini. Bright and cheery this game is not, but it doesn't need the sun behind it to cast a big shadow on the N64."
Watching the video review reminds me that your gun was ridiculously low powered so combat could sometimes feel like a slog. But it reminded me that there is tons and tons of exploration in this game, almost like a dark zelda type game.

Round 2 Fight!
Second Sight sucked balls off a diseased Rhino. Typical crappy Free Radical sewage. That said, Psi-Ops wasn't all that great either.

Psi Ops because Second Sight doesn't let you invert the camera axis.

Hahaha. Really though, half of both Okami & Wind Waker were so boring they nearly put me to sleep. Okami should have called it a day halfway through and it would have been great. Wind Waker....oh I have to sail to get to tiny island....oh no the wind is changing, let me break out my fuckin flute so I can change the wind! Wiiii.....oh wait the wind is changing AGAIN....ok let me play the song again....oh great now I have to hunt for stupid shit all over the map just to finish the game.
I can't believe nintendo didn't sort out the flute for changing direction of the wind. So stupid.
Okami, yeah that game is needlesy long and the combat sucks. Visually too, overated a bit. I love the art style but even in the slightly better looking wii version it still shows the fuzzy soft res visuals. It's not like clear, crisp viewtiful joe cel shading.

Geist.
That's not fair Geist has Samus in a shower. It's an auto win.
Seriously the concept of this game was motherfucking awesome, too bad the implementation sucked.
If they gave Shadowman a 93 then they were not the bestest mag ever.
It has a 76% on gamerankings is which just about perfect for that game. Its good, its 7 good. Soul Reaver is a 9 level game. Shadowman is far more action oriented so I can see why some like it more, SR can get boring if you don't like exploration or puzzles.
