Also ... I've grown to love Blight Town and the swamp. I am now a Chaos Servant rank 2. The egg carriers are my friends and Queelag's sister is my queen
Game seems to be moving along quite swiftly now. I already obtained three of the four souls I need to put in the lordvessel to access the final boss. Only have the bed of chaos (best name for a boss ever) left which my understanding is that it's not much of a boss fight. I'm a bit pissed off I didn't cut off Seath's tail for the moonlight greatsword but I was sick of the crystal cave and wanted out of there already. Maybe next playthrough.
So i have found that dex builds are pointless as if you make a sword with fire or lightning it ignores the dex stats, making it useless. So I will go endurance and INT instead and make a fire or lightning ugikatana whatever its called.

I don't know. Just play around until you find what you like. You only have a limited number of katanas unfortunately ie two (unless you join the forest guardian covenant and meet some pain in the ass conditions for another vendor to seel you the other two katanas). I turned my uchigatana into lighting uchigatana but I hated it. It was doing a lot less damage than my Iaito +10. So I reversed it and used it to make the Chaos Blade. But I still mostly use my Iaito + 10 (the DEX scaling makes it awesome) and I will only change it to take it to +15 when I can
Chaos blade shines on PvP, not so much in PvE. Apparently for PvE quelaag's furysword is better, they both also scale with humanity, although they never deal as much damage as a pure +15 weapon. For DEX builds you don't want to slice your damage dealt with elemental/divine weapons unless you're facing against enemies with clear weaknesses (fire/lightning/divine/whatever) and even then only use them during the area in question.
You can go with whatever build you want, faith, INT, you name it. But if you want to deal as much damage as possible stay away from elemental stuff.
My new favorite weapon right now is the gargoyle's halberd. Deals more damage at +14 than my +15 washing pole and also scales with STR. It's a thing of beauty. I'm also getting quite fond of BSS (Balder's side sword), which is supposedly great for PvP encounters.
I cleared Nito's place and started the DLC. So far I beat the first boss and moved on to the first big area.
I read more into it and yeah it maybe better to go non elemental route. There are so many choices.
i am plowing through the game, just finished blight town and on the way to the fortress. I easily destroy everything.

No, you're looking at it the wrong way.
DVader has already finished this game before without any advice and without any online/forum knowledge. The fact that he can play and finish a game like this at face value makes him a legendary gamer and he has my utmost respect about it.
Artorias is fucking me up badly. I'm gonna call it a night and return to it fresh later during the week.

It's all slowly coming back to me, it's awesome cause it's like a spidy sense. All of a sudden I am running down an area and I get a feeling "stop! Trap ahead!". I remember where tough enemies were. I remember most of the hidden stuff.
its weird cause I have little recollection of how to beat bosses nor do I remember the layout of the world. So the main thing I remember is simply areas that probably scarred me the first time.

I know that. Looks can be deceiving.
Got through darkroot basin, killed the hydra, went through the valley of the drakes killed that big dragon. Went to the Undead Asylum and killed the demon and got everything there. Now off to Sens fortress and soon darkroot garden. I'm level 50.
I think you will have no trouble with Sen's Fortress nor Darkroot Garden (which you can leave for later if you like). The next test for you is going to be Smough and Ornstein in Anor Londo which is where I rage quit on more than one occasion.
Dvader said:I will probably use some help for that fight. Summons are your friend.
I had bad experience with black phantom invasions in that area so I did it offline and only summoned Astora. He is great help
I lost 10000 souls in send fortress trying to use the cage shortcut to get back to the blacksmith. I was so pissed, I wanted to cash in before fighting the boss but the fucking cage leaves you on that tiny ledge with a snake dude and one shooting electro bolts at you and I died twice. So I just went ahead and beat the shit out of the iron golem instead. Now I have 40000 souls and need to cross the same area...

The boss atop Sen's Fortress is piss easy don't worry about it at all. And there is also an NPC you can summon (in tower after where the fog for the boss arena is) who will basically kill the golem for you.
I died once in that bit after you come out the cage-lift while I was carrying over 250 000 souls and 7-8 humanity and I was trying to go to Queelana to upgrade my flame. Luckily I made it all the way to my bloodstain by traversing all of the traps and narrow ledges with the pendulums in Sen's Fortress. It was nervewracking to say the least.
Today I beat the three bosses in Demon Ruins and did what I had to do to prevent Astora from going insane. Want to play on into Lost Izalith but I think I will leave it for another day
Also, don't worry about 10 000 souls. Shortly when you're in Ariamis you can do soul farming runs of 10 000 in 6-7 minutes. Before long you'll reach the point where 10 000 won't really mean anything to you (for me now a new level costs close to 80 K, and it hardly makes any difference to my stats so I don't know if it makes sense to level up anymore until NG+)
So far I think I hate nothing worse than the Crystal Cave. Narrow invisible floors? Why that's such a great idea!!
