The Last of Us Remastered
Tried the 30 fps mode in 4k. Looks sharp as HELL!
Titanfall 2
At first I was concerned I needed to "turn on" a Pro mode or something because I wasn't noticing a difference, but going back to the vanilla PS4, there is a noticeable bump in resolution and overall game performance on the Pro.
Killing Floor 2
Seeing the game on it's Media page on the Playstation store, my first impressions were "Ummm... meh..."
Now seeing the game first-hand on my 4k TV my reaction was "HOLY SHIT!! WHOA!!"
THIS IS THE GAME YOU WANT TO SEE, TO SEE A CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SYSTEM'S POWER!!
Awesome thread, man! I wish I could pick up a Pro and a 4kTV, but I'll settle for your impressions.
Regular PS4 games on the Pro have been a little mixed, performance-wise.
In searching for this image, I actually came across postings that say this game has been given a PS Pro patch already. On the Vanilla PS4 the game is bright and everything is pretty much in focus. On the Pro (and I don't know if this is due to the patch or a Pro patch is still incoming) the game is both dimmer AND more colorful, but strange aliasing techniques actually blur background images and give an (un)intentional division between foreground and back... Yet to be seen what will be done to fix(?) this...
Now I KNOW there hasn't been a patch for this one! For some reason, Resident Evil 6 looks utterly GORGEOUS on the Pro. It runs better, the resolution appears to be higher and the colors REALLY pop! There are shades of purple in the title screen I did not notice at all on the regular PS4. This game looks like a current gen game on the Pro!
Played an hour or two on the Pro... but I just kinda realized: If I've never seen it on regular PS4, how am I gonna compare?
What I can say is this: Don't know if the Day One patch did anything for the framerate or not, but I put it on Lite mode where it runs at 30fps in 1080p and I never saw any dip in framerate or jittery performance whatsoever. It was visually beautiful. I switched it to the higher resolution mode in the middle of playing and didn't see any appreciable difference at all. Don't know if you have to restart or not for the resolution to reset, I'll play again in a little while and see if I notice a difference. I do recall the Duscae demo and the actual game is far above and beyond the performance of IT by leaps and bounds! I played that on regular PS4, but the game's been overall optimized since then, so it's not a fair comparison.
From what I've read and what I've seen so far, the Pro does seem like it's the best place to play the game; knowing it's going to be further optimized from where it already is... to at least 60fps at 1080p and maybe even higher resolutions at a 30... that's just icing on the cake!
I do have a 4k TV. I don't have HDR. I've tried a good amount of Pro optimized or patched games. The Pro does make a difference with standard PS4 games. I'll post my impressions here!
