there is a baton which is passed from your player in the lower screen to your player in the top screen, and it also works as a points multiplier if you synchronise it well.  so you don't have to play both screens (and work d-pad and touch screen) right at the same time but you have to switch very fast between the two.  it's difficult at first and i'm sure it put a few people off, but you get used to it and it's very rewarding.

the game also helps you with the top screen if you can't quite manage and you can also choose the amount of help it gives you.  you can choose for it to take over if you don't move your top player for x amount of seconds, and you have several options for x.

it's best to try and do it yourself from the beginning as it's faster and more rewarding.  each battle is rated, and whereas i was getting mostly Es and Ds at the beginning i got to the point of getting mostly As and *s which was good.

^^^The NES one?

I thought you were talking about the 3-D ones. I still cant quite fathom how you do dual screen real time battles in the world ends with you?

Just glance up at the top screen once in a while while fighting on the bottom screen. That's what I do (especially since the top screen fights are more simple and slower then the bottoms).

One of the site's forefathers.

Play fighting games!

I have played the following games in 2008

Metroid Prime 3: brought it at the end of 2007, awesome game. Dark Samus is a bitch on Hyper

Metroid: Zero Mission (15%run): The game is totally different when you have to beat Ridley with only 2 missiles, TWO!

Sūpā Mario Gyarakushī: Man I played this game a LOT. First 120 stars with Mario and then with Wiigi. Then just playing for fun, then I found out the game is full with awesome shortcuts. That was so fun figuring out, so I played lots of levels trying to find crazy shortcuts. Many will get you killed fast if you make a slight mistake, but it was worth it. Lastly, I started a new file and used my knowledge of shortcuts, to finish the game again. Some stars you can get really fast if you know how! The more I play, the more I love this game.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Jesus Christ this game is packed. An adventure mode that last more than 10 hours (took me around 15 to complete 100%, will probably take around 25 to get all trophies), then there is stuff like the Classic mode and All-Star mode. Then there are the little addictive challenges like Multimen melee, homerun contest and boss battles. Most of these stuff can be also played in co-op. There is also a training mode, lots of trophies even more stickers, list with all Nintendo game released on Nintendo consoles (yes, even the Virtual Boy and Game & Watch) and even demos. And there is more a stage builder, sticker & trophy photographing and a coin launcher (basically an old school shoot em-up). But the best feature is the 200+ music you can listen to on the soundtest. Best.music.ever.burned.on.disc! The really awesome thing is that I have not even mentioned the multiplayer options. Which are even more awesome.

Zack and Wiki: I love the game, so many new puzzle ideas that could be used in a game like Zelda. There are some problems though, some solutions are not logical and sometimes the game does not communicate with you clearly enough. How could I know that a snake will crawl up the hole and scare the froggy? Never has the game told me, that I might have to return some items back into their original form! And some motion controls do not work well at all (I am looking at you: sword fighting and trying to turn the wheel to shoot a solar beam at the ice boss). But when it works (90+% of the time) it works beautifully.

World of Goo: brought it on the last day of 2008. What an awesome game! I remember playing Bridge Builder on the PC at the Technical High School in Rotterdam. This game was simple, build bridge, let rain run over it, if it brakes you lose, if not you win. I remember a friend wasting hours to build a bridge that would only work once (You run train over bridge, single element breaks off, without it the bridge collapses). This game has the same feel, but more organic, or should I say more Gooey and much more varied. You are not just building bridges, but towers, flying things, weird fuses, etc. I just reached the Information Highway level, now I have parts that you can fling to other paths. The game keeps introducing new stuff, but it does not get confusing at all. The game communicates with the player what the new stuff can do very intuitively. This game is really GOOd (kills himself)

Metroid: The original you get for free with Zero Missions. You know that games age right? Some do it beautifully and can even get better with age, some do it horribly. This is Metroid:

And the Winner is....................................

This pick was easy!

No, unlike in Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy and Twilight, I did not have the urge to get 100% here. I will eventually, but now I am playing Brawl and Goo!
