There's a collector's edition for $70. I couldn't find a regular edition.

$70 for a Sonic game? Oh that's so cute.
Man, I was such a Mario fanboy back in the day. The blast processing commercials used to piss me off.
There is a small glitch with Sonic Mania on Switch.
It happens when you try to go to the Home Screen it would have a delay of 4-7 seconds before going to the Home Screen.
So Sonic is the catalyst that convinces Raven to grab a Switch?

No. My PC only has a 360 controller or the keyboard, neither of which are ideal for playing a 2D Sonic game.

But a console with no D-pad whatsoever is?

The four buttons on the left will likely work better than the 360 D-pad or keyboard. Also, I plan to get a Pro controller.
Fuck sonic and fuck Mario. They can both take each side of a double headed dildo.
Lets argue like it's 1991! The best Sonic is back!!!!! So I have put about three hours into Sonic mania and I am deeply in love. This is an absolute dream come true. This game is nit only perfect genesis Sonic, it takes every single great element from all the old Sonic and adds new ones to make them better. Yes a lot of levels are levels from old games but very much remixed with all new gameplay elements that honestly blow my mind, let's just say Zelda isn't the only game playing with elemental physics.
The level designs take inspiration from the game they are from, so a Sonic 2 level will be faster and leaner than a Sonic 3 and knuckles level which tend to be slower paced but larger. There is a Sonic cd level that still feels like a drunk guy fell asleep on the level editor buttons and a random level appeared, so it's totally faithful to Sonic cd.
The new levels offer styles mixed of all of the above and introduce some kinks of their own. The level design is superb, probably the best its ever been. Gone are the mean spikes at the end of a speed boost, in fact there aren't many gotcha traps at all, it's a far easier game in that regard and smarter. The levels are massive with so many paths to take, it's going to take a long time to explore them all.
One of the best parts are the boss battles which constantly surprise with its incredible variety. Some are call backs, some are puzzle based, some are homages to other Sonic titles. They are clever and fun as hell to fight, easily the best collection of bosses in the series.
If I have to be critical it's just that the game is a bit easy, without all the evil traps the levels are far easier to just cruise along. I just replayed Sonic games and they were soooo much harder than this and I have played those a million times. Also I am a fan of Sonic 2 style levels, so the first three zones of mania was heaven to me. It was Sonic 2 style with the creativity of Sonic 3 levels, a perfect mix. But then it went into Sonic 3 levels and things slowed down a bit again.
This is a Sonic fans dream game. The fan service, it's everywhere!!! Buy this now!
