I was so happy with this game over the weekend but today I saw something that pissed me off so much. I'm sorry but I am just going to say it cause it's massive news, it's not a direct spoiler, it's about development.
MGSV is an unfinished game. Yes it has an "ending" but the actual final boss and level was cut and the entire cutscene is on YouTube taken from the making of bluray. This is not some bonus cutscene, this is the equivalent of MGS3 ending before you fight the boss.
This proves that the fight over this game had to do with releasing this game on time despite it not being finished. Who knows how much of the game was cut. Perhaps this is why chapter 2 is mostly repeated missions. I am livid, I can't believe what got cut. The damn truth needs to be out there, MGSV was never finished.
Yeah I saw that news about the unfinished bit awhile and it sounds quite disheartening. I'm not going to watch it until after I finish the game of course.
Right now I'm on Mission 24 and have done about 83 side ops.
That does suck and fuck Konami for forcing an unfinished product on the public. I'll watch that when MGSV is complete, so maybe October.
I bet they will try to sell it as $20 dlc.
Beat the game this morning. Chapter 2 blows for reasons beyond just the missed content and how stupid that twist and story is, holy shit does the final gameplay sequence make the cut content even more bullshit.
The airport was bliss. Not nearly as tough as I anticipated. Then it we the base invasion. I feel like I haven't properly used D Walker so he goes with me on the next mission.

Well I'm just glad I stuck to my guns and decided not to buy the game. I knew Konami was up to no good, and there's no way I was going to support them.

The cut content only makes up for some of the blame. Yes Konami rushing the game, and has its issues there, but the story aspect (fuck you I watched all the cutscenes on youtube, sue me)....GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That shit is all on Kojima, that nigga can't write a fucking shitty essay in high school, much less a fucking plot with some clarity to it. The plot twist is completely unearned and has NOTHING to do with the rest of the story. At least Metal Gear Solid 2's bullshit had a level of escalation and consistency with it where you could go, well the entire story was about this bullshit. MGSV has like 4 or 5 different plot lines going on, none of them end in a satisfying fashion.

All of them require you to shut your brain off to even accept what the fuck was being attempted. Like MGS4 is stupid, but at least like you could accept that it had an end goal in mind .MGSV's end goal is like bitch you thought you earned this?
The entirity of chapter 2 is a testament to how modern day gamers, rpg loving bitches, and the entire National Apologist Assocation of Assholes who defend shitty, boring, banal, filler sequences in open world games is directly responsible for the death of fuckiing fun in modern video games at times. You have 7 missions left after your fight with the Gundamn, and they are all areas you've already been to accept one (which fucking sucks, so thank you cinematic walking), and the way you achieve these mission unlocks isn't that you beat mission 31, so you get 32. You beat 32, now go do bitch work (like a bunch of side ops) or do a series of main missions which at this point aren't new missions, but old missions at a higher difficulty.
Which by the way has no defense once again. It's a video game that doesn't allow you to pick difficulty settings while being a mother fucking sequel to a mother fucking franchise that had mother fucking difficulty settings. So fuck off.
And it has nothing to do with how well you built your base or how many side ops you did, it's literally how many side ops did you do after you beat mission 32, cool here's the next cutscene, cool here's the next mission. And all of the gameplay is now filler, well beneath everything you have done before, with the only change being that you deal with more XOF soldiers, so it's a bit more tense, but I at this point give zero fucks, so I just ran right through that shit, because part of the gameplay failure here is that I can do that shit while not giving a single fuck about the letter grade I'm going to get. Also really Japan, S rank? Do you get how grading systems work? Fucking assholes.
Anyway then then then then What the ending requires you to play is ... a sequence you already did, ver-fucking-batim, which I thought was shit and requires you again to shut your brain off and/or legit like shitty things like cinematic walking, which as we have established Towers, is video game cancer. Stage 5, no cure in sight apparently.
So you have an ending stretch of gameplay that is entirely filler with the only thing driving the gameplay is the story, a story that is poorly built up, poorly strucutred, badly written because Hideo Kojima, and grade A garbage. With an actual ending to these fantastic mechanics and systems being a "what could have been" boss fight that is teased as "deleted scene" in the collector's edition in what episode 51 shoudl be, and make no mistake about it, the ending to episode 51 and the story part to episode 51 would still be dog shit by any measure.
None of this could be defended as "well metal gear is crazy and insane"...no fuck you, Platinum Games is crazy and insane. They are in on the joke, they understand they are a self aware cheesefest, and that's fun. Resident Evil 4 is crazy where the President's Daughter is kidnapped and they send one guy with a metrosexual haircut and a fly ass jacket with a gun to save her in bumba fuck spain to go fight Commando and The Predator. Metal Gear is a Kojima product, and a Kojima product actually takes itself plenty seriously at times, in fact it goes plenty up its own ass, and Kojima didn't have an ending that was just for "well he was being crazy"...no blow me, he had an ending that he probably thought was clever and compelling, because he fucking watches Drive 24/7, that hipster glasses wearing dick twinkie.
I am so butthurt at how shitty chapter 2 is, because the gameplay from Episode 1 to Episode 31 was so fucking strong, and I would still have a hard time bringing myself to thinking this gameplay is anything other than great. Shit those lazy ass retread of old levels still play great, because they highlight other strengths of the MGSV gameplay, but Chapter 2 sucks massive cock and is so beneath this game. It should be better than that shit.
Fucking that ending, fuck that twist that the game doesn't earn, fuck the structure of chapter 2, fuck FOB and it's microtransaction crap, fuck the fact that this game didn't let you have difficulty settings from the get go, and fuck that prick Hideo Kojima.
