i finished the game tonight.  it is a good length especially given the diversity of gameplay and how much fun it all is.  the last couple of battles are endurance affairs and they get a little repetitive since you're never in danger of dying but you still have to keep going through the same motions over and over for a long time.  but it's really a minor complaint.

now i've got no more mario rpgs to play and this makes me feel a bit empty.  can't wait for the next paper mario or mario and luigi (or a new kind of mario rpg).

This is what I hate about the portable mario rpgs. Sometimes you have bosses which recover huge chunks of life so you wonder what you are doing wrong as they last forever.

is nobody playing this game?  ASK are you still playing?  did you finish it, did you put it aside?

it's really good.  people please don't ignore it.

since i fucked up my fire emblem:sacred stones attempt (after leveling up for days at the arena i lost two key characters  against the odds and there went a dozen hours or so down the drain) i've been thinking of starting a mario & luigi marathon and playing all 3 games again.  hard to do that with so many games i have yet to play though but i just might (or at least play superstar saga again since it's been a long time).

(I don't know if there are some rules on necroposting so please tell me if upping old thread is a problem)

44 hours in the game. Still one optional boss to beat to complete it. Mario, Luigi and Bowser level 40.
Good game but less good than what I expected. The game is funny, colorful but with long, repetitive and quite boring battles and not enough Fawful. Playing Bowser was cool though.

Frankly, I liked the previous ones much more. :/

No real rules here other than don't post porn and don't be a jerk Happy

That's why its great, we're small enough and have good people so there isn't much need for moderation in general.

That's interesting you say that its worse than the other two, I really got bored of Partners in Time and its character switching. Most reviews say that this third game is better. I will pick it up if I ever see it cheap.

Well, I must admit that I really liked Parter in time more, maybe because I found it more funny, I'm not sure. The last last boss in partner in time was awfully bad though Nyaa

I think that what annoyed me in Bowser's inside story was the lack of NPC. You don't find a lot of people to talk with inside Bowser except the globin that were pretty lame. So more than a RPG, it gave me more a plateform vibe, and I must admit that it's not my favourite kind of game :/

I like both genres, but partners in time became a bit finnicky with 4 characters for me. I liked the N64 and GC Paper Mario games. Super Paper Mario was okay, but not great.

Yes sorry.. but that's because I made an annoying mistake of teaming with Peach and Bowser in a certain fight... and that's sooo not a good idea.

Please, don't ban me  :'(

Peach is the best character though.  And I've finished the game with all character combinations.  No excuses!

*ignores GG*

Hmm, I don't think that's the final fight. The battle I'm talking about is

the one where you have to fight your own team. And it's just awfully difficult when you are with peach and Bowser because Bowser can't fall asleep and stupid Peach keep on curing everyone all the time...

But yeah, maybe I'm just bad too Nyaa

Yeah, Bowser can be annoying in that battle.  Against Belome, right?  Don't worry about killing off all the clone enemies, just take out Peach since she has low HP, maybe Mario.  Make sure you're consistently doing damage to Belome because he's the real enemy -- Super Jump is very effective.  And, you can change characters before the battle, you know.

*gloats in pride for having finished super mario RPG*

super paper mario is the only mario rpg (even though more of a hybrid than the others) that i haven't played and i liked all three mario and luigi and both paper marios more than super mario RPG, but it was still a great game

Yep, that's this battle. But I think I went into totally unprepared and I hadn't saved for a while so that.. kinda upset me ^^'

But I will finish it, I promise!

Just.. not right now. *feels like playing some older game first*

Very well...

And as you may have noticed, derailing threads is not just fine, it's encouraged Nyaa
