So if everyone is online, how many people can you hear talking to you at any one time? Do you have to friend someone to hear them etc?

There is almost no voice chat in the game. You have to be in a fireteam, a set squad to hear them. Even in PvP you dont hear your teamates unless they are in your fireteam. You cannot communicate in the main hub. There is no clan member finder in game. In terms of multiplayer communication aspects this game is very poor.

Very poor? I call that an improvement!!! LMAO

The less assholes I have to listen to, the better. That's why I liked playing online on the Dreamcast so much...no voice chat.

Oh I hate talking to people but I at least want text chat to ask basic things.

So you can't just walk up to someone and ask about their gear etc?

You can inspect them and see what they have. But there is no trading, no selling of any kind.

Getting crappy reviews. 6,7, and a few 8s everywhere.

That's about right I'm so unimpressed.

"Pausing" is so annoying basically you need to hide in a corner and hope nothing attacks you.

The scores and reviews for this game have really surprised me. I didn't have a dog in the fight, since these kinds of games don't appeal to me, but I was really expecting this to be like a game of the generation kind of game. I wonder if it was a victim of it's own hype.

If nothing else though it may have provided a good lesson for other developers to follow - unless your game was the word "Mario" in it, you really should try to have a story.

Yeah pretty surprising reviews. I understand most of the criticisms but they don't bbother me too much, I'm still really enjoying the game.

I just recently finished the campaign and enjoyed it. Now I'm mostly playing Crucible mp matches and doing random strike missions. I'm very interested to see how Bungie carry on forward from here, this is supposedly going to be a long life cycle type of game. So far I'm onboard for the ride.

Story is one of the least issues it has.

Huh, that's interesting. From all the reviews I've seen, good and bad, that's one of the more common complaints.

What are the main complaints?  Gameplay is tight right?

Well it is an issue and we were promised this epic saga. The story is non existant, it is terrible. But what is worse is that the "story" missions might as well be generic defend or kill missions. There are a few cool moments but nothing like the design of a Halo game.

Amazing gameplay, everything else is lacking. I am finding PvP to be really good. Not Halo good but close.

Don't be soured. The game is built on an incredibly solid foundation. Powers are a lot of fun, gunplay is excellent, Loot still comes into play. It's a bit bare-bones now, but I have a very strong feeling it's going to grow into something huge. I love the competitive multiplayer; even though there's not a story behind much of what you do, the tension created by the fire-fights you get into is still edge of your seat stuff.

There's a whole mythology created around the game and its world but you have to dig to find it. You get Grimoires and Cards for different objectives you finish and missions you clear, but these aren't accessible in-game; you have to go to the Destiny app on your smart phone or to the website and read all of your collectibles to discover more about what's going on. I don't mind that; when you play the game, you play the game. If you want to experience "Story" it's there waiting for you when you are ready for it.

There's just TOO much built around this game for all that we see to be "IT"... Between the DLC and the social aspects of the game, it's pretty clear to me Bungie is revving up for something genre defining. I think --WE-- just don't see it yet. Like I said before, the foundation is there though.

^ Yeah it will become something special later. But one day we will look back and laugh at how little content we had when we started.

Just as an example, here's a picture of my Grimoire:

See all the numbers on the bottom? That's how many Cards you've collected (I believe). The Red number at the top is how many new you've gotten since the last time you entered that particular one. On each and every one of these cards is descriptions, snippets of lore and pieces of story. That's --A LOT-- of background info. You want to know what's what in the world? There ya go!

Here's an example of what you see in the App. From pictures on the cards, to your stats... It will also inform you of who is online and of weekly events or Bungie announcements. If you're not using this, you're missing out on half of what's going on in the game!

That's a pretty standard trait for most MMO's (whether this is one or not is up for debate). When I think back to what EverQuest was like when it first started it's almost humorous. Then again the difficulty level was so damned high back then that if there were more zones no one would have been able to play in them.
