Closer to Halo at this point. I've only played the first 20 mins. and only found one Loot Chest, so I'm only going by what the game called 'Loot' but I know there's more to it...

Love the concept so far. Was playing and met an Archon. Was near death when I noticed a friend of mine's name; that he had entered my game. I was able to survive long enough for him to reach me; he distracted the enemy long enough for me to take him down and complete the mission. I'm going to enjoy popping into people's games as support and rescue when I get powerful enough to do so.

...and he WASN'T playing a Warlock!  WinkWink

I am so jealous. I want to play! So did you do a strike yet. Those are the coop missions and really the meat of the game.

Don't even know what a strike is yet, so, no. I'm already impressed. I guess I've only just begun to be wowed though!

When do we get reviews?

Bungie has played the reverse psychology card perfectly by now discrediting all early reviews. Because of what they said, no one got early copies and that review sites must take time to enjoy the community, they threw suspision on any site that has a review in the next few days.

Plus raid mode which is the end game content wont be available till next week, so technically reviewers cant see the whole product till then, way after most people bought the game.

They convinced many gamers to take up their cause saying of course reviewers should experience the game with the full community and now most gamers are making note of any website that has any review early to make them as rushed reviewers. Basically all major sites are in a race to be last with a review.

Its all quite genius when you think of it.

Not really. Gaf impressions would be better if they hadn't said "we're proud of our game" which means "it's shit, we're afraid of bad reviews". But no one cares about gaf, so I suppose that doesn't matter.

So everyone's a warlock. I hate you all. Not you specifically general players. Seemed warlock won't be special.

When I get the game I plan to choose Hunter just because the default clothing looks badass.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

Had a great time this morning attempting a mission on the Moon. It was designated as 'Hard' but I wanted to see if the AI would approach a Halo level of sophistication, and, for the most part, it did. I was Level 3, the enemies were Level 6 and I was on my own. I took out a bunch of normal enemies, swarming enemies and even Captains, and gained a lot of experience, but I could not kill the Wizard at the end. Yes. A Space Wizard from the Moon... and he kicked my ass!  Nyaa

Oh man this game is soooooooo good. Gameplay is absolutely solid with intelligent enemies and great gunplay. The graphics are really sweet with some awesome looking vistas. I'm currently a level 13 Warlock and have done the story missions and strike mission on the Moon and now have Venus ready to explore. The strike mission on the Moon was reccommended as level 12 and man was it intense. The three of use tried beating the boss about 4 times and we finally did it, oh so satisfying. It was a a really tough fight with level 12 wizards, knights, swarms of other grunts and of course a big boss creature as well. There's been some really great fire fights accompanied by some great music. Can't wait to check out Venus now.

Been playing the game all night & day basically....its great shit. I still haven't gotten past where I was in the beta but I'm close, and idk maybe its just me but the game feels like it runs smoother than it did in the beta & the graphics seem a bit better. Though that could be because I recently replaced my LCD Sharp Aquos tv with an LED Sony Bravia tv.

But yeah, its definitely awesome and a nice change of pace from the usual FPS. They took all they did with Halo and applied it here to a much more open world game style.

So if everyone is online, how many people can you hear talking to you at any one time? Do you have to friend someone to hear them etc?

There is almost no voice chat in the game. You have to be in a fireteam, a set squad to hear them. Even in PvP you dont hear your teamates unless they are in your fireteam. You cannot communicate in the main hub. There is no clan member finder in game. In terms of multiplayer communication aspects this game is very poor.

The core gameplay mechanics are nearly perfect, some of the best FPS combat I have ever experienced. There are moments in a room where enemies are pouring in that I pull off the most insane shit. Making use of all my powers, the three different weapon classes all in perfect harmony. There are so many "omg I cant believe I survived that" moments. This is why I am enjoying the game so much.

The moon missions are better. The one with the sword was awesome, the game needs a hell of a lot more of that to break up the constant shooting. Most missions are the same and the environments feel like pallet swaps really. There is no level design at all, none of the big open battles Halo is known for is in the game. And when you go on a binge it all starts to feel really repetitive.

Playing with friends is fun. Loot is always addictive. I am terrible at PvP but it is very good and I like that it does tie into the campaign. Once again core gameplay is phenomenal. It seems Bungie will keep supporting the game with new events every week. This seems like the kind of game you have to wait to really get to full picture. Those wanting to buy it and play it like a single player campaign do not bother.

Very poor? I call that an improvement!!! LMAO
The less assholes I have to listen to, the better. That's why I liked playing online on the Dreamcast so much...no voice chat.

So you can't just walk up to someone and ask about their gear etc?

Yeah I think they really dropped the ball here and I don't know why. For such a social game it's really too quite and cumbersome to initiate voice communications.

It wqould kill the vibe if you had to listen to idiots rapping over their mic or just being stupid in general. That's probably why they didn't do voice.
