*sigh* so many great games that could be coming out on the VC just from the SNES alone.

I'm just wondering where all those Virtual Arcade games are from Capcom that have been getting promoted over the last few weeks.  In fact, if I recall some other company pledged to put a few games on the VCA about a month ealier.... was that Namco?  Hmmmmm....

Amazing that Nintendo has allowed Wiiware and DSiware to become home of shovelware. And yes I know the Wii is filled with it as well. What happened to the Nintendo seal of quality.

It's pretty much only there to prevent buggy games these days. La-Mulana just got turned down, and I think that's why Fatal Frame was never released in America. Is the game a piece of crap? That's fine, just so long as a it loads correctly.

the Nintendo seal of quality was a lie to try to get mostly amercans to trust  their games after atari's near destruction of the gaming indrusty in n/a, people forgot there was just as many shovelware in nes days as there is now it was just hidden better

I'm really hoping to see Donkey Koing 64 on the VC one of these days.  I know the chances might be slim, but I still hope.

reggie said that he wouldn't bring over fatal frame because he never heard of the series, and he has said that he believes that if games do not sell at least a million they are not worthwhile to sell, is why we wont get captain rainbow, or disaster day of destruction in n/a

Er, that's not what he said at all, that's a mish mash of completely different comments from completely different interviews presented as if he was talking about the same thing. About Fatal Frame he just hadn't heard of the game when asked (or he just said they aren't publishing it for the US, maybe it was a different game that he never heard of), that wasn't given as the reason they aren't bringing it over (which I don't think he ever gave any reason for at all), there was just internal conflict between NoJ and Tecmo with that title, mostly about the technical issues present. I'm pretty sure NoA have published plenty Wii/DS games that didn't sell a million. Captain Rainbow would never be localised by any company given the themes and Japanese humour. There are a few games to hold grudges over as they could have had some potentional in the West but these aren't them.

As for WiiWare, there are plenty good games on it, not all of which may appeal to any one person (which doesn't change that fact), and it's not infested with more shovelware than similar platforms either.

YES IT IS. Don't even try to deny that. WiiWare has about 5% good games and 95% pure crap. PSN and XBLA have tons and tons and tons of good stuff, average stuff and yes bad stuff but it is nothing like WiiWare. WiiWare is a dumpster.

Well sorry I guess I lump "average stuff" along with the "bad stuff" because I'd never play either since there are "good stuff" to play instead and it's not like I'll try each and every game that looks like ass to separate it as "average" instead of "bad" which I don't believe you do either anyway. So yes I guess I'm denying it.

I agree with Vader.

The DSiWare is also full of trash which is mostly half-baked port of cell-phone games. Some are okay but they're just ports. Even Nintendo is just porting little bits of existing retail games.

Shantae is the only one that really makes the DSiWare shop worthwhile.

This has nothing to do with what you will play. I am just saying the WiiWare library is mostly full of crap and it is not the same as other services.

I'm going completely off the topic here, because I'm not that interested in it, but I wanted to challenge you on this one.

How do you know what is good, bad, average etc... until you try it yourself?  You don't seem like the kind of person content to go along with the conventional wisdom.

Some of what you say is true -- like the origins of the seal -- but there was far less shovelware in the NES era because Nintendo limited the number of games each publisher could release each year to five. That's why Konami set up Ultra Games, so there was ways around this, but for the most part publishers had to pick their best chances of success since they were paying production charges to Nintendo up front -- and they had only 5 chances of success each year.
