This game is so fantastic. The story missions are getting much better as they present exciting set pieces in specific locations. There are areas in the second city that are closed in, they provide a sort of linear experience in a large open world game. I did this mission where you enter this fortress like area made up of shipping containers, enemies ambush you from all over. Electricity spots are placed in the right spots to provide a perfect challenge. It's great to see that the whole game won't be missions that have you going to point A or B and killing guys. I have seen other locations that look like they will have epic sized battles during a specific mission.
The action has not disappointed at all, even though there is not much variety in enemy types the powers you acquire in conjunction with the level layout allows you to devise all sorts of new combat strategies. One side mission had me grabbing packages that were placed on a series of buildings. These buildings had a bunch of walkways or balconies on the outside, enemies were perched all along those balconies. So picture yourself staring at a series of like four buildings with enemies shooting out of them from all floors. I noticed the train tracks road parallel to the buildings, so I hopped on the tracks (once I didn't notice the train was coming and a got knocked so far in the air, lol) and began to skate on them as I unleashed hell on the enemies. Imagine skating back and forth shooting enemies as you fly on by. With the rocket electricity power, the one with the homing attack, I would shoot rockets in the air then skate by and peg the targets with electricity and watch the missiles come flying in. Beautiful!
I like the specific stunts the game has you do, makes you try out certain highly skilled moves you probably would have never tried. Right now I am stuck on one that requires you to shockwave 3 enemies off a roof in one shot. I can't find 3 enemies on one roof. There is a trophy for killing enemies while riding on cars and on trains. The car one was easy, the train one though, that train moves way too fast how am I supposed to kill enemies while riding that thing. Well at least its a challenge. Shard pieces are always fun to get, its not annoying like looking for packages in a GTA game where the game has you searching every square inch of the map. Here its more about maneuvering your way to the shard, your radar will do the work of locating it for you. It's just fun trying to climb some to some of the locations they make you reach.
Stellar game, loving it so far.
This game keeps getting better and better. The main missions kick ass, what wild fantastic setpieces they have. I am almost finished with the second island, story is getting better all the time as well. But what amazes me the most is that the action never stops being enjoyable. It maybe the best superhero game I have ever played. It might be the best open world game outside of GTA. Besides LBP, I think this is the best Sony published game on the system, even better than Uncharted.
This game succeeds in its goal to make you feel like a super hero, I actually feel like I am the protector of this city. I listen when citizens come to me for help. I try to save anyone I see that needs help. When a reaper is shooting at helpless innocents I make sure to kill them then jump down to hear the cheers. One really funny thing that happened to me was when I was walking around an alley, a civilian was running toward me to tell me someone needs help. Well I didn't notice but I was standing on a puddle, when she got up to me she got electrocuted and died. I felt so bad.
Here is an example of the types of superhero badass moments you can have; there were two enemies on a roof, I was at ground level. They were shooting at me from above and they would retreat back from the edge so that I couldn't get a shot. So I decided to use my guided missile power, I shot an electric missile in the air, let it fly over the building and then shoot at the edge which gives the missile its target. The missile turned around landed on the roof and one guy went flying way up in the air, the other got knocked off the roof. The one that got knocked off survived the fall so I quickly ran up to him and kicked him while he was down to finish him off, right after the other guy finally landed behind me, dying instantly from the fall.
I am the kind of person that believes games can be used to tell a good story.
Especially in the Final Fantasy series, there were times when I would here something during the course of a story that would make me sit back, think to myself and say: "Hmmm..." I LOVE thought-provoking stories!
Now, I don't expect EVERY game to have a great story --BUT-- If there's ONE THING that pisses me off beyond belief and turns my love for a particular game into hatred it is the BLATANT COPY AND PASTING of a good idea and inserting it into a game for whatever reason.
I never expected a story-line in inFamous that would be all that memorable --BUT-- now I will never forget it for one --BAD-- reason: THEY HAD TO GO AND PLAY THE JOKER/DARK KNIGHT CARD! REALLY? SUCKER PUNCH? REALLY? THAT'S THE BEST YOU COULD DO?
SAD. ANGRY. WANTING TO FRISBEE THE DISC OUT THE WINDOW. LOW CLASS. REAL LOW CLASS. WAY TO RUIN MOMENTUM AND PISS ME OFF ! ! !

You are emotional cause of how painful that scene was to the player. Rarely can any game make me feel actual remorse, this game did. It was an amazing scene, one of the best story moments of this gen.
Plus you dont know anything yet... its nothing like the Joker. The ending will make your mind explode.

Hey! You know who else set poisonous, gas-filled balloons adrift above a big city to drive the population crazy?
--The Joker.
[First game I've finished in a long, long while. I watched the ending, saw the big-mind blowing twist, took it out of the PS3 and traded it in. Not to diminish anyone's appreciation for the game, because it is great; I just finished it and that was that. I can't put my finger on what left me feeling kinda flat about the whole thing, and I won't contemplate here; I was just done with playing it, then moved onto Red Faction: Guerilla.]

He didn't do it while listening to Prince, so its not the same.
Who cares about the damn story. Its a game with super powers, there needs to be super villains, thats the whole point of having a super hero, to do battle with equally powerful super villains. There should be all types of bosses in this game, a flame dude, an ice dude, a water dude, stuff like that. Imagine some guy that is extremely fast and you need to chase him around the city or something. It is such wasted potential that in a game where you have all these cool powers you are basically fighting standard grunts from every shooter ever made.
