What the fuck is this? I mean, seriously.  You call this a logo? It's a fucking catastrophe.  The people who made this should serve prison time:

You should have seen the ticket buying system. I can't even get tickets to the olympics in my own city. You put yourself down for tickets which were randomly allocated in a lottery system or more like russian roulette. First you had to be lucky enough to get picked at random, then the tickets you got were completely for random events. You might want to get tickets to the 100m final but they could give you horse riding tickets or ones for the walk or rock climbling or some weird shit. Then they just bill your account, they literally take the money from your account, give you your shitty crap and walk away into the fire.

I'd heard about that, but until I read your account I did not realize how ridiculous that is. Jeeeeeez.

Even scalping sounds more attractive than that.

When Atlanta went through its hosting of the Olympics I thought it was a freaking nightmare, and I pity what GG is going to have to go through. It's always a mess for the locals, and the way tickets are offered it rarely favors the locals.  I think my dad managed to get tickets to an Olympic basketball game that had two countries that didn't have a shot at making it to the medal rounds, and I had tickets to see Fencing (let me tell you that is one lame ass spectator sport) that I won through my job.  And I still say Atlanta had the lamest Olympic mascot of all time:

This was Izzy.... as in "what is he?"  Yeah.... several well educated people got together and agreed that this was a good idea.  The funny thing is this is actually the 2.0 version of Izzy. When they first unveiled him he was less cartoony and looked more like blue sperm.

To give Atlanta a little credit, we did have a badass logo:

Yeah you can. The weirder thing is that you say how many tickets you want and give your bank details. But since it is this lottery system the more you put yourself down for the bigger your chance for being selected. So some people put down a load. Thing is, they have to pay...... for all them so the ticketing company just automatically took masses of money from peoples accounts if they say were lucky enough to win 30 tickets or something.

Seems like a system set up to benefit scalpers and no one else.

It was a bad idea, that's what it was. He was pitched to the city as an amorphus CGI blob, who can could transform into different things. Since CGI was the new big technology someone thought making a character out of it would be a great idea. They eventually cartoonized it a little to make him slightly more appealing, but when he was first showed off the entire population of Atlanta nearly rioted, yelling "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS??"  One of the few times I ever saw an entire population rise up against something.

You know what, the Springfield Spring is actually a better mascot than both of those

Springy

I guess throw this one down as another thing you can't actually satirize because hyperbole doesn't work.

I must be getting really fucking old though, because this is the first time since 1988 (when I was a child) that I've been like, "YEAH, bring on the track and field" and am planning to watch it.

I used to watch the Olympics religiously but the past couple the time zones have been unmanagable. It's been on TV when all Godly people here are asleep.

Well London topped itself. They just came up with  something worse than the logo. The official theme:

^It starts bad and then gets worse every 15 seconds.

As a reminder as to how to do things, this was LA's contribution:

Flooding closed down the freeway between the biggest airport in the city and the main city itself recentely. It's still being repaired.

GG is London a madhouse right now? Are you going to go check out anything? (I highly doubt it but you might surprise me Nyaa )

Aspro OMG that is horrible. Of course the John Williams one is the best, that is what is used in all our telecasts to this day. I just figured that was the official Olympics theme.
