Anything beats GTA 4.
I have Assasins Creed 2 now so I will compare that to GTA 4.

How big is that genre? All I can think of is Hulk and Prototype.

A few Spider-Man games were like that. I think Superman Returns.
gamingeek said:There was a Superman returns game?
Yeah. I think it was from EA too and was promising but ultimately was just another "meh" Supes game.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns

Crackdown.
Dvader said:Yup, played it, loved it. Not as good as the GTA games though as those games usually have a ton of things to do outside the main missions and make you feel part of a living city more so than this game. Plus GTA games are much longer. But in terms of superhero open world games, it's the best.
That's the diffrence between me and you. I don't like side missions and long games. You like to live in a world (or get value for your money), whereas I'm in and out.
This one does give you a sense of place though, I do feel very connectd to the people, maybe because I'm the only one who can help them (I'm playing as the good guy). The NPC's are way more ralistic than those in GTA4.
Oh, which reminds me, I'm talking THIS generation. But anyway, I did not mean to frame this as a GTA or Infamous thread, each are good on their own.
I love using the rail tracks to gt around the town, I love the look of the town too. It seems so ralisitic, and I'm not sure if that is art direction or Sucker Punch applying the secret technology Sony seems to pump out to them and Naughty Dog.

Should get there soon. I think I got it for $20USD.

Hopefully. I just passed up on a $18 USD copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla. Mainly because my 360 is fucked.

I bought it over 10 months ago for £15 as soon as it was released on platinum in europe. Is it still expensive on NTSC?

I haven't seen it under $60 USD. For comparison's sake, newly released PS3 titles hover between $76 and 84 USD around here.
I thought it was a great game, best super hero type game I have played. I loved the animation style and comic book feel. Really really fun, can't wait for the second one!

Are you X Bear from gamespot?
Yes I am GG good to see you, I changed it to just _Bear a while ago. ON GS kept it the same here to avoid confusion.

Yay Bear!
I just finished it yesterday. What an amazing game. I am greatly concerned about what I read in Gameinformer about them changing Cole. Here is some of what they said, "One of the things we wanted to look at is what would an extreme sports star -- like ...Shaun White -- look like if they had super powers." Awwww fuck no.
And then, "We want him to be a little gritty, a little street, without the grumpiness." WHAT?!? I mean, no spoilers here, but if you went through what Cole went through you'd be a little surly too. It sounds like they are focus testing him to death.
Okay so who care how he looks right? Well my main problem with this is that if they change the tone of Cole, they change the tone of the whole game, and the biggest appeal in that game to me was the story and the characters.
So, that's why I've got some concerns about the second one. I like the dark-comic-book style of the first.
It beats the shit out of GTA4 in terms of gameplay, environment, story, ambience -- on every level. the difficulty curve is perfect, as is the unlocking of new skills. The world is credible, engaging even. I love this game.
I have the Sly Cooper games (made by Sucker Punch), but have not playd them yet, It eill be interesting to see the influences of that trilogy on Infamous.
Anyway, I was shocked -- did any of you play it back when it launched, or at all?
