Remember Kojima's lame tease with the green power button a while back? Most people thought it meant that MGS4 was coming to the 360. Kojima is by far the worst at teasing us and pumping his over inflated ego. Everytime I read one of these announcements from Konami and or Kojima, I just shrug my shoulders.

Yes, for it is the age of the internets and the information overload that comes with
Sadly. . . yes. It's going nowhere and it's not just games (though I'd say they're still the primary hype offender). Marvel and D*C do this with their big comic books now. Movie studios are starting to do it. Any form of mass media is taking advantage of the interent as a hype machine. It'll pass the way any trend does, but not for a long time.
Personally I pretty much ignore the BS teaser stuff, though truthfully as a "Type 3 Niche Gamer" most of the games I'm interested in don't have a budget that allows for much more than previews videos and maybe a website.
And for the record Kojima is now a bitch that's too scared to do anything without the Metal Gear name attached to it. That's right I said it!

I'll share it with you guys in 7 hours.
I appreciate the irony of this comment.
I like teasers but its getting ridiculous. Teasers of teasers, teasers for really crappy things. Geoff Keighly and the shitty green COD MW2 trailer.
Dark games turning out to be N-Space titles.
Obscure websites where we try and work out the game, only for it to turn out to be shite.
The only thing that gets me hyped for a game is a good review (written by amatuer or pro). All the rest of this stuff is just white noise.

Yeah, I ignore all of that. Teasers and viral campaigns can kiss my ass.
Twitter is the worst though. Some crap one line about some date. We all wait, its crap.
Oh and the Nintendo megatons are awesome fun. They always turn out to be useless. Well apart from Mature Zelda. But they are always in good fun as everyone knows that its going to fall flat.
It would seem as though no more interesting announcements are being made anymore. These days, all we get are teasers announcing future announcements. Lame twitter text lines with cryptic messages that could mean something or nothing at all. Weird flash sites. But who is to blame here? The developers trying to raise hype and awareness for their upcoming projects, albeit through questionable means? Or the unhealthy level of attention that we, as a community, give them on a daily basis?
Every little thing that a developer mutters is thoroughly analyzed throughout hundreds of forum posts trying to reach something that most of the times isn't there. Our flock barrels blindly from one teaser to another rarely (if ever) finding something worth the effort. Is this the way things are going to be?
