Get the update 4.2 immediately. Your Wii is new and you have not installed Homebrew yet, so you might as well get it over with. The Brawl problem is caused by a dirty lens, the chances of it happening to you are small. And besides you are a niche nerd king right now, so you better not buy this mainstream trash!
About WM+ the best way to get it is with Wii Sports Resort. Can you really say no to 1-1 sword fighting and bow and arrowing? (think of it as practice for the next Zelda)

Tiger Woods came with it and it has been dubbed the best golf game ever! Punch Out does not use WM+. If they are still selling the Tiger WM+ bundle, go for it!

I think Tiger woods had a ltd number bundle so if you order it online make sure that its the bundle with M+
First thing you need to do is tweak all your settings to work with your TV that includes screen type, cables and calibrating the sensor bar speed to your liking in the options to work best with your tv.
And be aware that strong light sources either on the end of the remote or sensor bar can throw off IR aiming.
But I'm so paranoid with it right now. With the Wii Update 4.2 bricking consoles, reports of Smash Bros. Brawl not working with some Wii's, and a bunch of other stuff, I'm having a tough time enjoying it!
Anyway, maybe you guys can help me ease my pain so I can enjoy the system! (PS: I'm like this with every new system I get, just so you know!
Also, I know I need:
- Component cables
- A router (can't get online right now)
- A SD Card
- Wii-motion Plus
- And of course, MORE GAMES!!!
By the way, is it safe to update to 4.2? I mean, I have no modded or homebrew stuff since it's brand new.Thanks!
