With SEGA today talking about doing more mature wii games and talking about how HOTD Overkill was a success for them, I went back into the old thread.
First month NPD sales were 45k for Overkill. It went on to sell over 640'000 units.
Here we are over a year later with Red Steel 2 in a similar position and going through the same headlines.
And IIRC Boom Blox sold less than 60k first month, everyone declared it a flop, EA disagreed and then it went on to sell over a million.
HotD in the US or worldwide? Most be worldwide.

SEGA said the bulk of sales were from europe so it's worldwide figures.
It just goes to show that looking at a months or even less than a months sales in a single territory isn't an accurate method of predicting a games success.
This taking a quick snapshot and declaring a game as a bomb is ridiculous.
