As of three days ago I am the (posibly) proud owner of an HD Sony Bravia.  But at the moment I can't use it for shit as I don't have the cables to connect it to anything.  Can someone offer some advice on what cables etc I need to connect my (PS3, Wii and 360).  I don't think I will bother with an upscaling box for the Wii signal, at least not at this stage.  I'd also like some kind of automatic switch so I can keep all consoles connected at the same time and so I don't have to plug cables in and out etc.  If at all possible please provide me with amazon.co.uk links for the things I will need to get.

Thanks in advance

Connect the Wii with component cables and the other 2 consoles with HMDI cables. I know you need to buy the component cables separately and think the same is true for the HMDI cables.

What he said.

Your TV should have at least 3 HDMI ports? Just get the cables to hook up PS3 and 360 though if you have an older 360 you might need to use a VGA or DVi cable and it will depend on if your TV has those equivalent ports too.

If you do use VGA or DVi cables you will need phono plugs the red and white sound cables you normally use for stereos to connect up the sound.

With Wii, just use compenents but remember to use the wii options to switch to 480p. With a bravia, check what bravia engine version it's using- it should be 3 or above if its new and you might get a decent Wii picture compared to other TVs.

Remember also to fiddle with the TV options when you have to wii up to mess with the sharpness or whatever to get rid of excessive jaggies etc.

Thanks guys, that is very useful.  No my 360 is fairly new and only had RCA/scart cable in.  Are all HDMI cables the same or are there good quality bad quality ones?

Should I get the official Nintendo component cables or will any ones do ... or are there better 3rd party ones?

GG I will let you know what engine it runs and ask you about the settings again once I get the cables, to hopefully get the best possible picture out of it.

Get official for the best.

HDMI cables are all standard but you should go for insulated and shielded ones with gold plated connectors and usually copper wire. Generally the more expensive the cable the better. With a big HDTV, make sure you get a cable of sufficient length to connect it all.

I can't help you with the settings of your TV, you have to just have the wii on and flick between different modes and effects. One thing you should experiment with is putting your TV in 4:3 mode when playing wii. It gives a much better picture as in full widescreen the wii is just letting your TV stretch pixels which blurs and loses definition. It's also been proven that the human eye can perceive a smaller picture with better clarity so by shrinking it to 4:3 you are getting a smaller screen space to get this effect.

I bought cheap Nyko component cables, and they work great with my HDTV.
