I started on a Atari 2600 then moved on to the NES. I don't think I've skipped a Nintendo generation ever. I have no desire to check SMS or Genesis, but I might check out some Sega collections every now and again.

I've never missed a gen, but I was a fairly late entry into last gen. I bought a PS2 after it was a year old, but almost exclusively played PS1 games on it for the first couple years. And I bought a GC but that wasn't until the end of its lifecycle. Definitely missed out on a big chunk of that gen, but I can't say I really regret it.
I suppose you could say I skipped NES/SNES given that I played the odd game then, but didn't own any of the consoles.
Next gen unless something interesting happens I will be skipping. It'll probably just be an even more underwhelming version of this gen.

The XB/GC/PS2 gen is probably my favorvite generation. It was where the tech hit the highest form before the drop in consumer experience quality that we see this gen (broken games, for pay DLC, online passes). When I play a game from that gen these days it is so nice to know that as I put it in the console there is not a system update awaiting me, or online servers having been shut off etc...
In terms of overal quality of games, this gen has provided the most fun expereriences (as games become more easy and in the moment), but the stability of the last gen pushes it just ahead for me.

No never have and I probably never will. As for which is the best, its this one. I know its great to love the past but we have never seen so many quality games coming out in such abundance as this gen.
You could say I sort of skipped the 8bit console era. I played the odd bits and pieces here and there but I was playing on PC.

16 bit. A friend of mine had a genesis, and another one had a SNES, so I got to play a few things with them, but I spent the whole generation doing other stuff. PS1 I got in really late, but I had the chance to play some good shit.

Watch any novela. I did not know they were based on Steel.
This is probably a question more for the Gen-X group here than the Gen-Y, but in terms of gaming generations did you skip a generation at all? And did you go back and re-live once you came back? I went from Atari 2600->TRS-80->Commodore 64 (skipped NES/ Genesis/ Master System) ->GameBoy->SNES and on from there.
I have tried to go back to the 8-bit generation, I have a fair few games for the systems, but I still don't think I've ever beaten a NES game.
