Indeed, and the quality of the bits of chocolate was of a surprisingly high standard; perhaps a sensory change has indeed taken place and my appreciation of fine chocolate has decreased and I am ready to accept chocolate of poorer quality.

I do believe that one is born with a sex, and though alterations to one's sex affect some cultures definition of adult I do not believe changing one sex for another would. Besides hormone treatment would be just as important in such matters.

So your coming of age is different, at 18 we are considered adults, that can't drink legaly but can go to war.

Also, in Australia as long as you are born you can (and should) drink.
I did so yesterday. There is even less difference than the last time due to no legal changes taking effect.
