Seriously though Street Fighter II should be in there.
Definitely Tetris, Pong, and Mario for their contributions. Maybe Zelda for the unique, for its time, save feature.
I think those three are shoe-ins along with Pac-Man. If I had to guess #5 I'd have to say Minecraft since I don't think any game has had it's level of impact since Super Mario Bros.
When they say FIFA, what are they referring to? The entire series? As far as I'm aware there is no FIFA game called just FIFA.

The Oregon Trail?
Yes, The Oregon Trail. The game was one of the first mega hits on the PC. It was used as a teaching aid in North American elementary schools for a good chunk of the 80's and 90's because not only was it fun, but it was actually fairly educational. Because of that it made more in-roads than any other video game with a non-gamer crowd. And most importantly it fucking kicks ass.
What genre?
Doesn't really fit a genre. If you want more details go use your Google machine.
Mario, zelda, pong, pacman, Tetris, doom should be the first class. I assume there will be only one game per series. And I guess this is only about impact of the games. So why is sonic there? Where the hell is final fantasy?

I might have gone with King's Quest over Oregon Trail, but I don't think there's any question which early PC game more played. Really the only game I consider absent from this list of nominees would be Street Fighter II.
Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts?
I'd drop Oregon Trail for King's Quest and also drop FIFA. I mean, which FIFA, this years? Then why not PES? Why not Madden? Besides that, for a museum, that list is sufficient. I'd also drop Angry Birds. Minecraft represents the new-age on the list and if they want to represent modern mobile surely a match-three game like Bejewelled would be a better option.

Probably because the FIFA series hit 100 million total sales in 2010, after being launched in 1993. Madden hadn't hit 100 million in 2013, after being launched in 1988. If you're including a sports game on a list like this, there is really no choice. FIFA or bust.

Okay, that's alright then, if they just want to accumulate the world's most significant NPD listing. I'd just not put annualized sports games in a "greatest" list, it's the failing of any Best 100 of All Time, when you go back a few years later and someone has proclaimed Sports Game '97 to be the best Sports Game ever made.
