I was about to picking it up yesterday, it was somewhat discounted at some store ($28-30 ish), but the wrapping was torn up so I passed.
I thought the game was pretty cool at first, but after a while the lack of penalties kind of killed my interest. It felt like I was watching a movie more than playing a game.
Darth liked the TV stuff and hated the gameplay if I remember correctly.

I thought the same until the 7th chapter of the first part. From teh elephant boss on combat can be challenging even on Normal.

It has a lot more game in it than I thought. I was expecting (based on reports) that it was a good anime with QTE's but most of the game (by a slight majority) is God of War style combo-brawling. There are multiple ways to fight, using either your arms to pummel, legs to kick, a jumping attack and also a shooting attack, so kind of more like Devil May Cry than God of War, now I think about it.
So did any of you try this game this year? It is widely described as an interactive anime experience, which is about right.
It has more action in it than I thought (think God of War), but unlike God of War the action sequences are snappier and less drawn out. There is a fair amount of QTE, but if you miss them there is no penalty (other than a lower ranking at the end of each stage). The QTE's are not annoying either, they become a part of the presentation of the game in places.
The presentation is great (you would not think this was the Unreal Engine), and each chapter is presented as a serialized TV show, with recaps, ad breaks and closing credits. The story itself is interesting enough that it has me watching it (not skipping cutscenes). The basic message is one of betrayl and redemption.
Anyway, worth checking out if you like anime or just something a little different.
