Iga_Bobovic said:So Steel, about these Tombs of the Assassins stages, how do they actually work?
I mean you can jump automatically, would that mean you just push you analogy and you finish these platform stages? Where lies the challenge and fun in these stages?
Actually, the Tombs of the Assassins are where platforming elements on the game really come onto their own. Each one is a big environment designed like a puzzle, they're not overly hard, and levers are fairly easy to spot, but you still need to figure out on your own the correct route across the environment in order to reach the places you need to go to progress through the stage, because even though you can climb up a lot of things, not everything will lead you the way you want to go. You don't jump automatically, you need to do it like in any other platformer, pushing jump and aiming for the right direction.
In time, you'll reach certain stages where besides having to figure out the route, you need to do it within a certain amount of time, because levers are timed, so that adds an extra challenge to the tombs.
@ the dog stuff.

So are these platforming parts your favourite part of the game?

They're a nice change of pace from the bloodshed, but in order to truly make them outstanding, Ubi Montreal needs to improve stealth gameplay sections and enemy AI. I wouldn't say they're my favorite parts, because I'm not too big in environmental puzzles, but these ones were easy enough to figure them out on my own.
I wouldn't want a full game of that, though.

Most of that was posted in GG weekly. Steel and Archie were too lazy to make a thread back then.
Talk me through how you get missions in this game, do you have like various people like in GTA who you go to, to get missions?
Also is it openworld like you can roam about searching for random missions and stuff?

Yeah, but they're not as defined as in GTA games, where you would have different letter icons on the map for several different people who assign you missions, in GTA IV, you know where to find Brucie, or the italian mafia boss, or whatever. Here, you have small exclamation marks to show where a memory sequence starts, and that's about it. Once you arrive and talk to someone, the sequence rolls and your mission starts to unfold.
There is an open world, but with closed areas that slowly open as you progress through the game, you can roam all you want, but there are no random missions, except for the occasional pickpocket who you can mug or kill to get money from, or the Borgia courier, who you can tackle and punch for a nice chunk of money. GTA-like random missions, where you could be approached by some random stranger on the street to ask you for help with his cheating wife, no. Ubi Montreal isn't R* North and it shows.
Everything else is marked and shows after reaching viewpoints. Side missions include assassination contracts, racing contests and beatings (you get to beat cheating husbands at the wive's request). They are all simple affairs. So, even if the gameworld is populated, it doesn't feel as alive as a GTA gameworld does.

Ah I see, thanks for the info. Sounds good either way to me, I like focus anyway.
Have been playing this over the last couple of weeks and I've been really enjoying it. It's the first game I've played in ages when I don't feel I want to get through it as quickly as possible to start another one of the many games I have waiting. I'm taking my sweet time with this and cherishing every minute of it.
Think I may be less than half way through the main story line and I'm trying to do all kinds of side stuff and collecting as soon as they become available before moving on with the main storyline sequences.
Today I played through the first two assassin's tombs and I agree with the general sentiment in this thread that they are great fun. Assassination missions have also only just started becoming available which adds another thing to do.
I really look forward to playing much more of this game over the weekend.
Something I've been wanting to ask: Can someone complete the game fully without the DLC?
i did the kill ten brutes in 60 seconds assassination mission, don't know if that was the one giving steel trouble. took me a couple of tries, the key was to hire a band of mercenaries to keep them busy while i went round their back putting my blade through them.
it didn't unlock any trophy though assassination contracts don't seem to be drying up and i'm not sure if i should.
this game is awesome.
