Saw The Walking Dead and LOVED IT!

It was one of the best zombie stories I have seen in recent times. I am not a fan of 28 days later and stuff like that. This seemed to hit the perfect note of slow paced burn and amazing visual action. I can't wait to see more. Definitely my new favorite show.

Sadly, I missed Thw Walking Dead, but I hope to catch a recap.  So Vader, is it a worthy LOST replacement?  Not scifi/mythology wise, but as in good characters and storytelling?

Yes. I was already  touched by one storyline and there is one developing which will is going to be very interesting.

I am sure you can watch the show online or maybe on AMC, they probably will air the show a lot.

I actually wrote a post yesterday that was killed by IE. It basically said that the film was boring, violent, sometimes disturbing and a massive fakeout at the end. So Foolz should love it Nyaa

Excellent. I wonder what would ever happen if you watched something that was actually disturbing, though. Nyaa

Diarrhoea is my guess! Grinning

One of the stars of "The Cove," the controversial Oscar-winning documentary about a grisly annual dolphin hunt, Tuesday boycotted a debate set up by the town made famous in the film, calling it "a sham."

Birthday Boy: 8/10

Brilliant short. Wonderfully paced, and amazingly form Australia. Screw descriptions: it's good.

Premonition: 5/10

Hmm, less than  the sum of its parts. It's likable in most aspects; the performances are good, the cinematography is good, the soundtrack is decent, but FFS it just never pulls it off, and is stupid.

Storm Boy: 8/10

Okay, so there's one thing that Australians are good at, and that's making things for children. Nothing short of a masterpiece. Brilliantly shot, good peformances form the main characters, hilarious performances by the secondary ones, and pelicans are awesome.

Very Small Business:

I was expecting this to be like The Librarians; mildly funny, but fortable. Instead it's a memorable satire of small businesses and a large number of things; really pleasent surprise. Pity it's only 6 episodes long.

Terrible impressions, but I'm in a hurry. Nyaa

I saw the first episode last night, suprised it had no adverts and ran for over an hour.

Did not like it that much. It was okay but it's a very slowly paced and earnest way to do a zombie show. I didn't really see any amazing visual action. I would prefer a crazy, funny, fast paced zombie film/show. This seems a bit like Superman Returns - too earnest for its own good.

EDIT

Saw second episode, much more entertaining Happy

Saw Shutter Island, good movie, sad ending.

Reminded me of the Wicker Man. The original not the hilarious Nick Cage version.

Also saw Aliens vs Predator Requiem.

It was better than the first movie yet still meh. It pains me to see what these movies are. I mean Aliens and Predator are two 80s movie phenomena that are revered by me. I used to get the comics which were an dual aliens and predator stories and then a storyline that included both. In the movies you can see how creatively stagnant or even financially constricted they are. Why are they set on present day earth?

Aliens would look absurd if, for instance in this movie, you saw an alien in the woods attacking a 5 year boy in a gillet. Or having an alien crawling over a waitress in a small down diner. Or seeing an alien pump eggs into a womans mouth in a modern day hospital. And taking the predator out of the woods or violent 80s city and putting him in small town america. Ugh.

That movie was handled by terrible directors, they made Skyline which looks horrible. They basically turned the AvP franchise into sci-fi channel movie or the week.

How did Shutter Island remind you of the Wicker man?  Do you just mean sort of near the end of each film, when you suss out what is going on and the inevitability of it all?  Both are good films.  The Wicker Man is one of my favourite of all time.  The first time I watched it was on Channel 4 one  New Year's Eve.  I was so completely absorbed I forgot all about countdowns and other crap.

Tonight I watched "On the Edge"

A low budget Irish production about a group of suicidal young people who are patients in a mental institution.  Wouldn't say it's great.  Somewhat predictable etc.  But a good effort overall I think and mostly worth watching.  Some of the acting is particularly good.

The only thing I can tolerate on Sci-Fi is Battlestar Galactica.  That show is amazing.
