Oh wow. I’m surprised with your number one pick. I enjoyed the game as well, probably not as much to put it at my number one of the 2010’s but well enoug. Glad you enjoyed it. I wouldn’t mind going back to it myself someday and playing through it again now that I got all the dlc for it.

MHW, and most of the series for that matter, is a steady well-paced enjoyable game. But the high moments are very far and few in between. There is also considerable grinding, which is fun and challenging, but does get stale after a while. FFX delivered more fun and memorable moments in 50 hours and never overstayed it's welcome.
It's not about time being proportional to enjoyment. I'd have made much the same comment if the two picks had been reversed!
In any case, I really wanna check out FFXV, but feel I need to play XIII first for the redemption arc.
