I beat a 1001 Spikes, all gold skulls, and beating Antarctica to send my 970 out on a solid outing. I was shocked when world 6 ended up being a whole fucking half of the game.

Game is so sick, one of the better platformers I've played in awhile. I would rather have Meat Boy's game feel, but this game probably has actually more interesting levels n challenges. Which brings me to 17 games beaten, with the Doom 4 and Eternal next up on my deck. With some ODST thrown into the mix.

Journey to the Savage Planet was a blast to play through.  It could certainly be my Game of the Year.  Who knows?  Since we are not getting Metroid Prime anytime soon, this was satisfying enough to fill its spot.  I really want to do co-op.  Leo?

Same here. Games like Monster Hunter: Iceborne, Gears 5 multiplayer, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, etc. are absolutely killing my chances of finishing more games. I need to get off of this treadmill of constantly needing to do my dailies and weeklies and get back to finishing some of these single player story driven games that I have sitting here in my backlog.

Can I recommend Splatoon2 to you?  It's a similar timesink, but it has a short campaign.  WinkWink

I’m so enraged that you would even try to recommend that game to me that I gave your post a +1. Just know that it would have been a -1 if I could. devil

I finished Super Mario 64. What a game! It suffers from the same camera issues as Mario Sunshine but is still a little more fun to play.  That last Bowser battle...phew.  Has there ever been a final Mario battle that felt that complex, at least mechanically? Now all of the games in the Allstar collection are complete.

I beat Hollow Knight some time ago.  It's a fun game, left me puzzled as to where I needed to go a couple of times.  Beautifully drawn and animated as well, with a great atmosphere to it.  I enjoyed every minute of it and might return to it later on to get more of the endings.  8/10

I beat Borderlands in co-op.  My friend suggested playing BL3 but since my computer can't run it and there's no cross play, we ended up playing the original.  After playing this BL2 seems more like an expansion to the original than a full blown sequel, so similar as they are.  On the other hand, this game was much shorter than anticipated and so, so drab and brown.  There were virtually no high points, with bosses barely distinguisable from regular foes.  5/10

I enjoyed BL2 much more than the first.  I think it's because I spent so much time playing co-op with Leo.

I don't think you beat it beat it though, lol. The best ending is super hard, that final boss, crazy.

So you're talking about the final boss, or the final final boss that requires you to beat the pantheons?

Let's do an update, I'm on a phone so no pretty pictures.

33. Ghost of Tsushima - still need to write a proper review. I give it an 8.6

34. Streets of Rage 4 - Perfected the formula, this is maybe the best beat em up ever . Takes everything that made SoR so great, added some new moves that add an entire new layer of strategy to the mix and gives you great levels, bosses and music. I wish I delved deeper, I only beat the campaign once which was longer than the average SoR game. An excellent throwback. Overall Score: 8.7

35. Super Mario 64 -Still a masterpiece

36. The Touryst - a charming cute indie game that is light in puzzles and likes to dabble in game history with beat references and cool mini games. For the most part it's a top down puzzle game, though these puzzles never really evolve and are simplistic. It's like a detective game where you travel from island to island asking people where to find whatever quest item or person you are on and ultimately open the different tombs. The best part are the various mini games that populate the world from playing in game arcade games mimicking the sega games of the past, some surfing mini game, some spelunking and more. It keeps the gameplay fresh for the 6 or so hours it takes to complete. I also found the art style to be gorgeous and the writing to be charming and funny. It's not deep, this isn't some instant classic but it's a fun game. Overall Score 6.8

37. Carrion - This small metroidvania flips the script and makes you the monster as you slime your way through a base to escape capture by eating or possessing human workers. The concept is cool and it works with some neat powers that allow for the metroid aspect of the formula to function as you find new ways to access new areas. It just never feels that ambitious, it's a smaller world that's hard to make sense of how it all connects. The game never really asks you to go back to previous locations so it feels mostly linear. It's over pretty fast with no real standout moments, the good part is that the controls are fast and fluid and there are some good puzzles in it. Overall score: 6.0

38. Hades - This rogue like from supergiant games is one of the best rogue like games I have played. Most of the time I get bored of the repetition but the way they carved the story into the rogue like elements really makes me want to keep exploring and access more and more abilities and weapons. The story is you are the son of Hades and you want out, so you fight your way to the surface of earth while all the gods of Olympus aid you in various ways. The cool thing is the story continues with each attempt, the huge cast of NPCs will comment on how your attempt went, they will offer advice, and collectibles you earn in your run upgrades many aspects of your game back at Hades home base.

The combat is really fast and fluid, it's their usual top down gameplay. This feels like Diablo on speed, when you are fully powered there can be so many effects and powers on screen at once, it becomes a joy to play. The possibilities of very different builds based on the RNG is stunning, I found myself creating all kinds of new strategies, some worked great and got me very far eventually escaping (which opens a massive post game) and some failed miserably much to the delight of my father Hades. I really wish there was more to the game though, it's just four simple levels, about 5 bosses you fight over and over, enemies are rather basic. It's a testament to all the surrounding elements that push the gameplay forward to make a game that's just four small levels feel this fun to replay.

Overall Score - 8.7

39. Super Mario Galaxy- still basically perfect.

40. Astrobot's Playroom - this is the pack in game for the PS5 which serves as a showcase for the fantastic dual sense controller. There is not some incredibly deep platformer here, you get four well designed worlds that last like 30 minutes each and they serve as a way to showcase all the controller can do. Haptics bring the game to life in impressive ways as you can feel the difference in the ground from sand to water, wind is felt following inside your controller, every bump of a rocky road is felt, and most impressive when it rains you feel the drops. The adaptive triggers have a bunch of tension on them which makes it feel like a true trigger; you feel the recoil on a gun for instance, the tension of a rope of an arrow and so on. It allows for precise grabbing as you can go with a light touch in a level where you are in a monkey suit and rock climbing. There are a ton of mini games that make use of all the controller features like the touch pad, the six axis, the mic and so on.

What a LOVE about Astro bot is concept of what the game is, basically you are inside a new PS5 and every level is a different part of the consoles construction. One level is the GPU, the snow level is the cooling system, a speed highway is the SSD level, each with a totally different asthmatic and fantastic song about the part. Throughout these levels you will see Astro bots recreating scenes from nearly every famous PS title, from the PS1 days to the present every game that had a hand in making the PS brand the best in gaming is represented, part of the fun was figuring out each one. The collectibles are incredibly detailed models of every PS console and accessory every made, from the PS1 to something as obscure as some GPS thing for the PSP, every product is included and most of the models have some form of interactivity. It all gets displayed in this museum of PlayStation that covers the entire history, this is a love letter to everything PS and the biggest nostalgia trip you can ever have. Nintendo is usually the king of that kind of Disney like creativity and presentation, well Sony has matched them.

In the end though this is still not a very deep game. The VR title is magnitudes better than this, basically this makes me want a proper Astro Bot sequel VR or not. This should be the PS mascot, please make more! Overall Score: 7.6

Spider-Man Miles Morales is complete.  It really is more of the same but a fun little side story. The visuals are top notch.
