I've been placing 5 markers in one small map section and exploring every inch. There's tons of things you miss. I just found a new kind of korok.

I've been thinking of finally heading to Hyrule Castle to give that Ganon a good kicking.  I haven't maxed out any of my armour and have only done about 90 shrines, but I'm finding that the time has come.  I'm still very much enjoying every minute of the game, but I'm not the type to go searching ever last nook and cranny for every last secret.  I haven't been that guy since the end of the N64 era.

Also, I love how Rito village has the Roost Island theme playing.  That's like, so deep man.

I am still playing this game far after I have done "everything" i.e all sidequests and shrines and beat Ganon etc.

Just exploring the maps I guarantee you there are vast portions of game you haven't seen. Also I powered up and went in to literally destroy everything in Hyrule castle, explore every single room of it. And I even climbed up to the very top of Hyrule castle. Awesome.

I also have every outfit maxed out except the star fragment ones.

I entered Hyrule Castle yesterday for the first time.  Had a great time just roaming around the different buildings and rooms.  It's really cool.  I reached the actual castle, but didn't go in to fight Ganon.  I wanted to mess around in Hyrule castle some more first, and it was also very late already yesterday, didn't feel like comitting to a possibly long fight when it was already past midnight.  For the whole game I had always avoided direct confrontation with guardians, so when I decided to besiege the castle I still didn't know how to fight them.  What a relief that you can just chop off their legs and that doing so already decimates their health.

I picked this up for Wii U, thought it would be a nice way to cap out the console.  Have not played it yet, turned it on for five minutes just to see if it booted.

I'm just going to wait for the patch with the footprints on the map before playing it again.

So I just beat Ganon.  Boy, are bosses in this game a letdown.  Sad

*SPOILERS*

I mean seriously, you have this great location, Hyrule castle in ruins, and then you just drop down to some arena?  To fight a spider?  Honestly, I didn't even know what I was supposed to be doing, I just brute forced my way through it.  Some attacks were neigh impossible to dodge.  It's like they knew we'd all be near invincible when we finally got around to confronting Ganon, so they made sure we'd lose health by the bucketloads.  And then he goes invincible, save for in flurry rush mode?  Who thought of that?  I rarely relied on the technique, so I had a hard time triggering it to do any damage at all.  And to get back to my first point: a SPIDER?  If Ganon had been resurecting himself for a century, couldn't they have made him look a bit more human, you know, like how everyone knows and loves him?  A huge red beard just doesn't cut it.

The huge pig stage was pretty cool, albeit laughably easy.  Ganon barely attacks you, only spitting out lasers from the front, where you won't be near at all.

*END SPOILERS*

All in all I didn't feel like I 'beat' Ganon, I kind of just overpowerd him.  There's nothing heroic about being in the ropes for most of the fight, only surviving because you've saved up a large stock of potent healing meals.  I didn't get any satisfaction from the fight, but I guess that puts it in line with the other boss fights.  Disappointing.

Hopefully the next game will marry the world design and gameplay loop of BotW with the more traditional dungeoning of the other 3D zelda's.

I loved it. You can dodge his attacks and you can also equip your heatproof suit and parry certain attacks.

Regarding using meals to heal you that is part of the whole game so suddenly restricting it because its an end boss wouldn't feel right.

I think I just suck at emergent gameplay.  Not once did I think 'hey, maybe I should try my heatproof suit and see if I can deflect certain attacks'.  It's been a trend through my whole playthrough.  I hardly ever try something new.  I only did it once, to make an electric trail out of metal swords and shields as to not have to locate the second electric ball in the devine camel, and even then I just felt like I was cheating.

I had max stamina so I could easily outrun most projectile attacks. Works well with Lynels too. Love equipping my shock proof outfit for thunderstorms too.

I barely took any damage from Ganon. I just dodged his attacks and when he went into that invincible mode I deflected his attack and it took him right out of it.

OK, I basically played the whole game without deflecting attacks.. Hrm  I also found most of his attacks hard to dodge.  I literally had to wait for specific attacks to happen which I knew how to dodge and even then I didn't always succeed.  I also found the effect of the devine beasts underwhelming.  I guess I was expecting more than them just knocking a portion off of his healthbar.

I kind of wish I had gone in without any divine beast help to make it harder.

I am finding the game to be tough going at this point. I am always resource poor and overmatched against the mini-bosses. I always have almost no arrows, no health and no food.

How can you have no food when the world is teeming with wildlife? Arrows are hard to come by and rather expensive.  The easiest way is to stand out of reach of an archer, you'll be able to gather a few of the arrows that didn't quite reach you.

Where are you.  Stock up and cook tons of food before venturing out.

I am never comfortable with killing animals in video games.  I kill the things that attack me, but they rarely give me any thing to eat... So you kill the wildlife in the game? I thought I'd be penalized if I tried that.

Way up in the north east corner of the map.

I think I've come across them ... thanks. How does one solve the arrow shortage? Some of these mini-bosses seem only to die from them.
