I don't know what happened. I heard this song What a fool believes cover linked upstairs. I watched it on youtube, bought the album and now I'll all about Kenny Loggins. Who I never heard of before even though he did Footloose and the Top Gun Danger Zone song.

He's a pretty great live performer. I love this song, its like 9 minutes long. I've been listening to the 1992 Redwoods performance and this video is from the year previous to that concert at the grand canyon.

The sax player is great, reminds me of the 80s when solo sax bits were acceptable and nice to listen to as well.

Yes, saxophone is greatly underused.  In that vein, I have Yuna Ito - Tender is the Night

i think the saxophone is quite possibly my least favourite instrument in the world.  it is strange for me because i generally love brass instruments, the trumpet especially is probably my favourite instrument altogether but something about the saxophone (especially the tenor sax) just sounds cheesy and sugary.

i used to go and watch a lot of traditional jazz bands while i lived in the UK (i think after new orleans the UK perhaps has the best scene for trad jazz), most of them had a brass section with the holy trinity of trumpet, trombone and clarinet which is how it ought to be but sometimes (usually younger bands) you would get a band which had a saxophone instead of the clarinet and that would ruin it for me.  even jazz greats like john coltrane i wish they'd chosen a different instrument.

having said that, not all saxophone music is bad.  one of my favourite bands of the 90ies (now defunct after the singer died on stage some years ago) was morphine.  basically a rock band but a very unconventional one in that there was no guitar what so ever in there music.  just bass, drums ... and baritone sax.  hope you like this ...

Morphine - Cure for Pain (Live)

Now that's an interesting use of sax.

I prefer Billy Ocean 80s sax guy though. You cant beat 80s sax.

on the way back from work i heard a beatles tune on the radio.  beatlemania is all the rage again don't you know?  i nearly threw up.  i hate this shit more than ever.

just in case you're being sucked into this new found wave of phony beatlemania and you're tempted of buying of one of their shitty albums, remastered now for the nth time (as n goes to infinity) ... DON'T.  just don't.

why?  do you ask...
they suck.  they are overrated and they're shite and their music is abhorrent.

Opeth is a swedish death metal band. These guys are insanely talented, and their music usually has mellow bits interspersed among the heaviest of shit. They made an album called Damnation, which is completely comprised of mellow shit. It's eerie and depressing, but blatantly melodic and enjoyable, so if you're not in the mood, avoid the links.

To Rid the Disease.

Ending Credits.

Windowpane.
