We need you to do commentary via voice chat in Mario Kart.
So as I said in the MK8 thread If we do have a Euro/Aussie hour and a USA/Rest of world hour then someone else, an American probably will have to commit to open a room as the times will probably be far too late for me. Any volunteers?
And am I crazy - going by this old chart I made:
Foolz is 11 hours ahead???!!
If the matches are full (which I think is unlikely)
Latecomers can open a new room right?

Winners sig for a week
I'm -5 hours since I'm in Pennsylvania.
I haven't played Splatoon in a while last time I remember I was level 8 online.
-5 hours since New York? I didn't actually check, but Pennsylvania is on our time, so whatevs.
Not really free on Sundays though, I usually work my 2nd job on Sundays, and if I have off, I tend to hang out with my buddies or the broad. But I want to, Splatoon is rad.
Right now, UTC 0831 it is 18:31 on Tuesday in Australia. I hope this helps.
Sunday in the rest of the world is usually Monday here.
Some update info lets us know how we can arrange matches:
On Aug. 5, a free software update in the Splatoon game for the Wii U console brings a large amount of new content to the game, including two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, an increase to the game's level cap and more than 40 pieces of new gear. Players will now be able to create a winning strategy and fight to be the best and most battle-tested squid squad around.
The new update introduces Squad Battle and Private Battle matchmaking options. In Squad Battle, players can participate in Ranked Battle rule sets with friends, rather than being teamed up with other players through a random selection. After a player creates a squad, friends can be recruited to form a team of two to four Inklings. Friends will always play together on the same team and battle against other squads at random.
In Private Battle, friends can splat it up in private, customizable matches. Two to eight friends can battle together by selecting their favorite map, mode and weapons. The number of participants ranges from 1v1 to 4v4, but teams don't have to be even: If the host chooses, he or she can select a 1v4, 1v2, or any other combination of players.
With this robust new update also comes an increased level cap in both Regular Battle and Ranked Battle modes. After downloading the software update, players will be able to reach level 50 (raised from level 20) and rank S and S+ (both higher than A+).
While Inklings around the world are enjoying and mastering the current arsenal of weapons in Splatoon, two new weapon types will be available with the update, adding a new layer of strategy to the game. The bucket-like Slosher weapons hurl ink straight ahead at an impressive range. By adjusting the angle, these new weapons can be used to splat opponents who are up high or even on the other side of a wall. With the Gatling-style Splatling, players can charge blasts of all-powerful ink. A maximum charge unleashes the full potential of this particular weapon type. In addition to the new weapons, more than 40 pieces of gear, including everything from a leather jacket to a sushi-chef costume, are coming to the various in-game shops in Splatoon.
Despite its size and scope, this massive August update is not the end of the splat-acular free content coming to Splatoon. Following this update, more content will continually roll out through the rest of the summer and fall, including the Rainmaker Ranked Battle mode, additional maps and new weapons. More details about these additions will be revealed in the future.
Getting a better idea of times now.
So on a Sunday, give me a rough idea in terms of a window e.g from 09:00 to 14:00 that you guys would most likely be able to play. YOUR LOCAL TIME

Pro, how far ahead of GMT?
There are some pics here from the update, showing the menu options.
Nintyfan17 said:I love that Nintendo is changing Urchin Underpass because that stage is really unbalanced. I quit playing Splatoon just because of that stage. I had about 6 matches on a row on Urchin Underpass versing people that were Level 20 while most of my team weren't even Level 10 and the way that stage is once one team controls the center it is impossible for the other team to win.
It sounds like it was more an issue of you being mismatched. The way to re-take the area is to arrive via the high ground from the left, shoot anyone on the ground in the center area, then jump down and make you way to the opposite side high ground. Splat the fool waiting up there, hold that spot and let your team take back the center ground.
So it looks like the bulk of the players are grouped together in Europe but only two confirmed so far in the -5 hour block
- -5 hours behind GMT - Gagan, Nintyfan [Raven? -7]
- GG, Supreme AC, Iga, within 1 hour of each other
Aussies are a far out though. Ravenprose is -7 hours but I guess he's close enough to the -5hr group.
I took Bugs, Foolz,Travo, Archie, Edgecrusher and Vader off this post, as I think they don't own Splatoon.
So it looks like the bulk of the players are grouped together in Europe with 2 in the -5 hrs U.S Block, perhaps Raven could match with them, and only Aspro in the far off aussie hour unless Foolz owns Splatoon too now?
So for the Euros and Americas group(s) what time window -your local time- on Sundays would work for you?
GG: anytime between 10:30 - 18:00 local time is good or between 22:00 - 0:00
If we want to accomodate Austrailia the earlier the better, but then that would be quite early for the Americans then. That's the problem.
GG, not to undermine the great work you're doing here, but wouldn't Splatoon Saturdays make more sense? That way our Aussie friends could make it too on Sunday morning. And if things are going great, it's less of a problem to stay up late on a Saturday than it is on a Sunday.
Why are we all of a sudden using local time, just stick with UTC like you said everyone should. I can make it online after 20h30 local time, which seems to be 18h30 UTC, eventhough I'd expect it to be 19h30.
Don't have Splatoon yet.
Tomorrow's tester is uncertain. I think my sister picked up tickets for the theatre expecting me to go with her. I'll sign in the minute I get back but I'm not sure it will be early enough.
Normally, I should be able to make meetings on most evenings and weekends provided it's not some ungodly hour and I have had enough notice to plan around it. If days/times are standardized the way GG is trying to achieve then that should be fine most of the time.
Also count me out for most of August. I plan to be out of the country from around 10th - 11th until close to the end of the month. Nothing booked yet but I'm hoping it will come together in the end.

Don't worry about undermining me, I need the feedback and ideas from as many people as possible. I didn't think about the Aussies for Sunday morning, good thinking. But Aspro and Foolz are +10, even +11 hours ahead.
So for instance:
- 17:00 for the American group
- -----------------------------------22:00 GMT Splat hour----------------------------
- 0:00 for Bugs
- 08:00 for Aspro
- 09:00 for Foolz
Bugs having to play from midnight to 1am? Aspro having to play at 8am on Sunday morning? They need to let me know if that is feasible? But if we shift back an hour or more for Bugs that makes it earlier for Aspro and Foolz. As Bugs doesn't have Splatoon yet we could maybe push it forward an hour to make Aspros Sunday morning more palatable - but then Iga and you Sup would be playing from 00:00 - 01:00am
I just want you guys to tell me local times as it's easier for me to remember relative to my time and the groups as for instance there are a bunch of -5hr people and a bunch of us within a couple of hours of each other. The final regular time will be UTC.
Let me know what everybody thinks.
I updated the timezones chart to show Splatoon owners only.
7 people, with 1 more Splatoon owner we can stage a full 8 player match.
Yeah, the two aussies are far out of anyone's time zone.
And we rarely play together anyway for various conflicting reasons (though somehow manage to reocrd a podcast every two weeks).
Tentative schedule:
21:00 UTC Saturdays starting 8th August
(9th for Austrailians Sunday mornings)
In local times that means:
- 17:00 for the American group
- -----------------------------------22:00 GMT Splat hour----------------------------
- 23:00 for Iga and Supreme
- 0:00 for Bugs
- 08:00 for Aspro
- 09:00 for Foolz
Who's in for Saturday and what weapon are you using?
I'm torn between the Aerospray and the .92 gal deco.
With the .92 I can decimate the competition and get a lot of kills meaning my team will probably win but I will score low personally and maybe not have as much fun bombing about. Or I can use the Aerospray and ink more turf, score higher but have less impact on the overall match.
21:00 UTC Saturdays
(Austrailians Sunday mornings)

1. Update and add all your Wii U friends from the Online Gaming Page: Events, codes and hookups
2. Using the World Clock tell me how far behind or ahead are you from London Time?
So far:
*This list is for current Splatoon owners - the full timezone list can be found in the Online gaming Hookup thread*
3. Get used to using our website UTC Clock as it will be the same for everyone regardless of where you are in the world (see top right of webpage)
4. Rank up to over level 10 so we can play ranked battles
5. A commitment to show up. Because otherwise this will never work. Even if 2 or 3 people show up it will be a victory.
The aim is to have a 1 hour session a week - which can continue for longer if people want to.
