I just worked out that when splatnet says someone is online it doesn't mean they are playing Splatoon. Only when it says they r in a ranked battle or turf wars.
The amount of weapons you get after each level is ridiculous. Too many options!

Well, it wasn't when we were playing from launch, but they've kept releasing so many through DLC.

Ok, the new leveling system is kind of silly. They should've kept it as before.
The level doesn't matter. Gear and rank, that's where it's at.

Not strictly true, you only earn points to level up if you win and the higher your level the more you get paired against high level Japanese ninjas who bone you endlessly.
