Aerospray:

  • Base Damage: 24.5
  • Range: 32/100
  • Attack: 20/100
  • Fire Rate: 100/100

Splash-o-Matic:

  • Base Damage: 26
  • Range: 32/100
  • Attack: 25/100
  • Fire Rate: 75/100

Splash-o-Matic is more accurate since it only shoots straight ahead it doesn't spread.

I got the information from Inkopedia

So after playing a lot of the Rainmaker I had something of an epiphany. My team penned the opposition back into their own last quarter for 90% of the match. At the end the game awarded the opposition the win. Why? If there is (no) knockout the game awards the win to whatever team has held onto the Rainmaker for the longest, even if we were beating the shit out of them. This is why it's my least favourite ranked mode and I'd rather play the other modes. There's something iffy about it and most of the problems are because of that Rainmaker shield that just has to recharge immediately after you splat the holder.

Instead of letting you press the advantage, it allows the other team to regroup, stand in a circle and pump the shield full of ink. You kill them again, rinse and repeat. And because we were nearer their end it was easier for them to recoup while we had to travel the whole map distance or super jump and hope there was someone left to super jump to. We did this, stopped them in their tracks, held them back and they get the win. indecision

Isn't it just based on which team got closest to the goal? So if you pinned them back for 90% of the match and they'd got closer to their goal with the rainmaker than you'd go to yours, then you lose.

Useful, thanks.

Even if that were true, it would still suck if that was how it was judged. If we dominated them for 90% of the match and they got 1 metre closer than us in a 30 second dash, it's woefully unfair.

I'm pretty sure it's how it works in all match types, including Turf War. I find it especially annoying in turf war when you've had like 75% of the map painted for the majority of the match, then everyone fucks up at the end and the other team goes on a roll and wins. Comebacks like that can be extremely gratifying, though, but it really does mean the only part of the match that really matters in most matches of any sort is the end.

I suggest you guys try Blackberry Park with a slosher, it's hilarious. There are so many lips no one can get to you before you splat them.

I don't have a problem with turf wars scoring. I find the scoring for when i use the carbon roller as weird. On Moray towers I covered 80% of the map myself. My team won but I came 4th in the scoring with a low score. I've tried using it more and it's fun but the game always scores you low when you use it.

I believe that there's a cunning handicap system deployed by Nintendo in which they scan the internet, looking for people with similar usernames.  Some advanced software then reads all their posts about splatoon's scoring system and determines how much they're nagging about it.  The more they nag, the heavier they'll be penalized in the game's scoring.

Talking about scoring, I hate to be THAT guy, but I've lost every match today but looking at the scores I'm consistently scoring second place. So why are my teamates so fucking useless?

I'm not going to go complain about teammates.  Ever since I returned from vacation Saturday, I've somehow become worthless at the game.  It's like I'm shooting with a pea shooter.

This might also be a good time to say I won't be able to make it for the Splathour this Saturday.  And most likely won't be able to make it for MK wednesday, althought I might make it on the last minute.

edit: your team might have done better if you'd paid more attention to them and assisted them, instead of just strode out on your own.  Not that I often do that, but still.

Well, I made something of a comeback in the evening and afternoon. Got lots of wins.

I guess playing against Euros vs Japs makes a big difference. Splatoon is getting harder though, maybe it's because I'm level 29 they keep putting me in matches against similar or even higher levelled people and the competition is rough.

That's another thing that bothers me, you have to press forward, that way even if the enemy is past you, they are heading in the opposite direction and you can ink more closer to their goal. I've been on teams who all huddle around one area and do fuck all. It's only when I break out and surge forward that there is any movement in the match. I find that I go really far into the map, the results come in and you can see a huge track where I've been and my team has done fuck all in the back. It's better than staying there in the middle fighting a war of attrition.

Also did more Rainmaker matches *sigh* with teamates who will stand about 5 metres from an exposed Rainmaker instead of picking it up. indecision

I tried out all the non-gun weapons yesterday, actually, and the slosher was the only one I liked.

I had one match where my team acted as if it was turf war even though it was tower control.

We still won but some people on my team were just inking all the ground near our base.

So my experiment with equipment went swimmingly (see what I did there) I now have a fully fleshed out equipment stash. Instead of mixing up main abilities try using 3 pieces of equipment with the same main characteristic. You will see a huge benefit rather than a small one. Try it by using 3 run speed items for instance.

Only problem - without invisible squid jumps you get hammered by people who can see your beacon. Unless you just make your way manually from the start, which is slow and you can't join the current skirmish as soon as possible.

The carbon roller is cool, very fast too. The Dynamo roller is good too once you get it into your head that you can fling very powerful ink, very far away.

You sure you weren't on Rainmaker mode because there is a good reason for doing that in that mode.

I usually focus on respawn time and special charge up, with inksaver as an aside.  However, with my latest misfortunes and how I see other people being specced, I've been thinking of investing more in defensive and offensive perks.

I also try to always have 2 maximum upgraded pieces of gear on my, while upgrading the third.  It makes playing games seem a little more usefull.

It's sad but you have to use special charge up if you want an inkzooka these days. I have no idea why they gimped it, it was no worse than having Krakkens and Killer Wails flying about. And it actually took some skill to aim it,  it was very narrow.

Ink saver Main is very useful, it means you can shoot for longer without recharging and use the subs more without running out of ink on your main. I like to power up my Aerospray with Damage Ups. I'm thinking a carbon roller with 3 max swim speeds would be useful. You roll roll roll then when you run out of ink you can retreat quickly and recharge.

Also what I noticed is that Ninja Squid and Invisible squid jumps are the only two abilites that cannot be gained as a sub-ability. You either equip it as a main or not at all. Sad

That's because they're only for octowusses  Nyaa  The usefulness of the inksaver depends on your weapon.  Some weapons, like the .52Gal, use only a little ink.  Others use so much that they might as well just be leaky.

Oh yeah, the roller I tried was really effective (the Krak-on one); it just wasn't that fun to use.

I think it caters to a certain type of people.  The douches who'd rather scamp int he ink and go for a cheap kill.  Glad to hear you're not one of them.
