Piece of shit Polygon review, Arthur Gies just complains of over sexualization. Other than that, probably the highest rated game of the year. Masterpiece, as if there was ever a doubt.

Is it still rare for Gamespot to give a 10?

I haven't been back to Gamespot since I left the forums.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

  • SMB Mix-Up! (1AB2-0000-0047-5A7D)
  • Storm the Castle (77BD-0000-00E0-A9C0)

I find it hard to believe that the game is THAT good, as imo the only game of this genre that ever came close to being worthy of a 10 was Ninja Gaiden. And even that isn't a 10. But shit, now I'm really intrigued.

Was not expecting this to be the highest rated game of the year at all.....I wasn't even expecting it to be the highest rated game on the Wii fucking U!

Different reviewers, I guess.  Who knows what kind of crazy scenarios you face as well.

This is also the impressions thread, I am being lazy!

Wow this game is going to be nuts! But lets start with the first game that comes with Bayo 2. I have not played it in years, I decided to play that first to refresh my memories. It worked, within minutes memories came flooding back and I remembered the way upgrades, secrets and items worked. It was also great to play with Bayonetta looking like this

Oh yes, complete with Zelda sound effects. I tried the Samus suit she gets the samus blaster.

Then I started Bayonetta 2, WHAT AN UPGRADE! Not even the demo does this game justice, everything looks more detailed and runs smoother. The combat is polished to perfection. I only finished up to the first chapter which has a ton of secret versus and introduces so many new enemies. I also unlocked the swords which I will probably be using till I find a new weapon, the stuff you can do with those swords, woah. Bayonetta 2 plays so much better, it is night and day.

The only issue I see with the game is that it is basically a polished extension of the first game. There is no new gameplay systems in play, it is the exact same combat system from the first. Every DMC game introduced major changes to the combat, this is basically more of the same. It becomes very noticeable when you play the first chapter of both games and see the similarities. The way the store was introduced in both games is nearly identical. The items and how they work is the same. The store had the exact same moves and relics available as the first game. The structure of levels is basically the same.

There are way worst things out there than being like one of the best action games. It plays so much better that the sequel will clearly be better. But that feeling of sameness will probably hold it back for me from being one of the all time best action games.

I now understand why each Chapter is called a Climax. The tension builds as the fights get harder and harder through the stage. You may have brief moments of respite as you explore each crack and crevice of the areas looking for treasures, but once you re-engage... Oof! Hot and heavy!

You take pounding after pounding and reciprocate in kind, the battles get faster and faster as you approach the end; by the time you reach the Boss, you are holding your breath until one ultimately dominates the other... If Bayonetta comes out on top, she will unload a super-satisfying Umbran explosion as you watch the boss go down...

...and then you finally catch you breath, hands shaking, body weak but immediately wanting to do it again.

Playing Bayonetta 2 with the Upad sucks. Two hours of intense gameplay, and hands fucking hurt! Looks like I'll finally have buy a Pro Controller-- you know, the controller that should have been standard in the first place.Argh!

SHDUDHUCHGEDICDGEIDU!!

THIS GAME IS INSANE!!!!!

I got through chapter 5, been getting my ass whopped readily but loving every second! Chapter 5 was some of the most epic shit I have ever seen in a game. You do battle against an enemy who has your powers so you are dodging, he is teleporting, he is summoning angel power attacks, flying countering all while two giant monsters battle in the background! Its ridiculous!!!

In chapter 4 I died 7 times against the boss, got a stone statue of course. I could not get the timing of the attacks, I was being battered. Finally I decided to just watch the boss learn every move it does. Next time I got through, no deaths, gold ranking. When it all clicks and you are weaving in and out of witch time oh man the combat is perfect.

Oh I also got to try tag mode which is the two player online mode. It has a ton of challenges to try out and the online works super well. The person with the highest score wins bonus rings. It is a fun as hell mode, especially when both players are good and laying waste to the enemies.
