Just want to go on the record here before the launch of the XB1 and PS4 to say that if you thought the launch of the U was something unique to Nintendo, just wait.

I am not sure which one to be worse, I am suspecting PS4's PSN to be a monstrous disaster for the first two weeks at least, I expect there to be a lot of bitching about XB1's social features (and what people miss from 360).  I expect more fallout from things similar to Call of Duty running on 720p on xb1 compared to 1080p on ps4.  Then all the promised features not showing up in the launch window.

And the inevitable gaming drought lasting for months for both systems.

Not going to call you Nostradamus on this prediction, but I agree. I'm just curious to what extent. MS is rushing it, and Sony has been too perfect lately. If nothing else there will be droughts and sorry if I'm not convinced that indie titles will be filling the gap.

I agree it's going to be long time, before we see any great games on either.

I'm looking forward to one of the consoles announcing that the games won't work on launch, and will only be playable after a post-launch firmware update. Though, that's a moot point given that neither consoles have any games.

Why bother with either? There's more than enough room on PC.

Xbox Ones sheer price alone will see its post Christmas sales bomb. They're going to have to price cut on this thing in similar fashion to Wii U or even sooner if things go badly.

Wii U has for next year, DKC TP, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, X and a new Zelda U announcement that Aonuma already confirmed.

BF4 is 720p on X1, 900p on PS4.

Considering that framerate and resolutions are used as performance indicators, seems X1 is settling on 720p more readily which is closer to Wii U and current gen resolutions too. But even PS4s' faster RAm is suffering from slow texture load in according to DFoundry.

Well, so far, looks like Sony has proved me wrong. PSN seems to be holding up extremely well.

What didn't hold up well at all was Microsoft's lineup of exclusives.

I was right about this:

I expect there to be a lot of bitching about XB1's social features (and what people miss from 360).

I blame 100% of the reviewers, editorials, and any form of potential criticism written against video games that Tomas apologized for. Due to their shittyness, lack of a spine, and condoning having poor priorities unlike Gagan, our lord n savior, the medium will be an even bigger cess pit than before. At least Devil May Cry 5 exists tho. Give me Vergil you cowards!!!

Bumping this thread for a laugh. If the last gen launches were bad, what do you call this one?

No one here even mentions Xbox Series X. PS5 is all over the news channels.

Is there a problem other than the dearth of the consoles themselves? (I haven't paying attention.)

Other then scalpers this gen consoles seem to doing good. There was some stuff going on about their stability and want not but things seem to have quieted down on that front.

Well there's a pretty noticeable lack of original next generation games to go with the hardware.
