Spoiling...? I'm talking about Operation 0002...! You are way passed those battles!

It's the same robot in both battles. It's not so much Tower Defense in gameplay, as it is Defending a Tower from that huge Robot. You recruit National Defense soldiers, repair the Tower, while fighting the 'bot... I thought it was cool and memorable, at least!

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!! MOST AWESOME BOSS BATTLE EVER!

When platinum teamed with Sega for Bayonetta they had some amazing sega fan service there. Well they just blew that away with the Nintendo fan service here!!!!!! I cannot spoil it, its too good.

Play this game!!!!

So, would you say Nintendo + Platinum = TKO?

So why is this game so awesome; it is not the frantic addicting combat, it's that you have no clue what the game will throw at you next. This is not a hardcore hack and slash action game, in fact this game has infinite lives and is impossible to get stuck (you simply will get a bad score). This is a love letter to all kinds of action games, it brings the joy of the twitch shooter, the button masher, the platformer and all sorts of other genre moments. It almost feels like it celebrates the joy of playing video games. Its all wrapped up in a sort of awesome saturday morning cartoon story that is surprising interesting, very cliche but like how it is a homage to video games its also a homage to all the craziest saturday morning cartoons.

I can't say the core combat hangs with the big boys in NG, DMC or bayonetta, but it makes up for it in the unknown of what kind of off the wall gameplay scenario you will see next. Even in the standard game moments this world is filled with loads of secrets often time solved by elemental puzzles. It almost has this zelda quality of "how do I get to that" maybe you havent aquired the item needed yet or maybe haven't really explored everything.

Plus it is a damn meaty game too, I still have quite a bit to play. I guess you can speed rush it for about 6 or 7 hours but I am more at +10 (replayed quite a few stages though). Highly recommened.

Completely agree! Don't know why it took me so long, but I didn't draw the Zelda comparison until I reached Lowrule, then I was like "Duh! How didn't I see it before?!"

Its kind of crazy that all the powers are basically Zelda items.

Here's my OMG, HOLY CRAP, HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE moment of the day:

I just posted this a moment ago in the news Forum:

_________________________

Totally forgot to mention this before. Wonder Black's Unite Morph enables him to toss Bombs. The area where you get him is a strange continent with a huge, active volcano on it. It has overgrown grass you need to cut with your sword to find enemies and items and there's quite a few puzzles that need to be solved in its dungeon-like environment. The name of the land is Lowrule.

Nyaa

It's obvious what Kamiya is parodying in that last statement, but when you really stop to think about it: Bombs, Hammers, Swords, Whips. The different Unite Morphs are all different Tools, a-la Zelda, and each area you explore is a Dungeon! You have your cracked floors, scalable surfaces, locked doors, and hidden secrets. Just like Okami, The Wonderful 101 is more of a Zelda game than most any other game on the market, other than Zelda! The Combat kicks ass and is much more enjoyable than those other two games, but the idea behind using your Unite Morphs to fight and/or solve puzzles, the gradual obtaining and building upon skills... totally Zelda! I would go as far as saying: The Wonderful 101 is closer to a ZELDA game than a Pikmin game! I don't know why that hasn't occurred to me before!

Operation 007 BOSS!!!! Another classic Nintendo game moment!!!!!!!!!!!!

Platinum does what Nintendont!

I am shocked at how good the story is, this game is by far Platinums best story, I know that is not saying much but this one is coherent with extremely well defined characters and it fits the cartoon mold perfectly.

You have officially passed me, which is OK, considering I really only play on the weekends. I have been taking my time with this one, savoring every last moment of it! That being said, careful of spoilers now, please!

Game done, the best action game of the year. The best Wii U game so far. It is simply amazing in its imagination, I couldnt believe the stuff I was doing half the time. Sadly a few of the last levels reuse some old ideas, the middle part of the game is the best.

Now to really play the game. Hard mode awaits.

Why didn't you play through on hard the first time? (Or did it have to be unlocked?)

Has to be unlocked. Then you unlock very hard, then very stupid insane hard.

For action games like this it is understandable. The hard modes are different you are supposed to have everything unlocked and maxed out to actually survive.

Oh this game only has two hards.

The Wonderful 101 is an amazing experience. It's rare to have this much fun with a game I am so bad at. I really need to be playing on the Easy level, but like a stubborn fool I'm going at it on Normal.
