Yeah I tried messing with the settings but to no avail. It only happens with DD too rather annoying. Funny thing is at the start of the game you can see you go full for a few seconds then it detects something and goes back to the double forced WS I hate it.

Sorry. I'll admit, I was skipping around the podcast, excitedly trying to find your impressions, and I only heard the unskippable text part. I would add that I was drunk_leo at that time, but that shouldn't really matter... I was expecting to hear excitement, but I only heard the worst parts and at the moment it was as if someone ran over my cat and kicked a baby.

Yes, there were no impressions on the game.  I effectively did not start the game because I was frustrated and decided to start it in a few days knowing in advance about the text.

Wasn't meant ONLY for you... those who might be a little turned off by the text might be re-intrigued by what the review has to say.

Snippet:

"the game's final revelation is so mind-blowing and is executed so brilliantly that I guarantee it will stick with you for as long as you play videogames. It's something that could only be possible on the DS, and my heart leapt when it happened."

I agree with Vader the combat in Batman AA and AC is excellent as is the games themselves. I'm pretty sure you could use the gadgets in AC to take down enemies as you saw fit plus use them in various combos if you had them equipped.

I'm not really sure what to think about the current game design discussion. Sounded like a bunch of cranky old men talking. Nyaa Sure there's some examples of poor game design but I'd be hard pressed to find as many as one would believe hearing the discussion. I'd find even fewer games with poor menu systems. Again sure some here and there like the mentioned GT 5 but for the vast majority of games that I've played the menus seemed fine.

The Alan's Wake American Nightmare impressions were pretty funny. I haven't played that one yet so I have no impressions myself but I really enjoyed the first game which was quite good. That was a full retail game compared to this as a downloadable so perhaps they skimped on the polish and production values. Personally I think I'd rather have voice-acting for a poor story as reading text requires more effort on my end. Nyaa

Sorry Bear but I have no suggestions on the letterboxing issue you're having with Dragon's Dogma.
