Outside of the the Marios (plus 1943 and Dr. Mario), I don't think there is much there that is fun to play. I like the music in pretty much all of them though.
Castlevania and Dig Dug are okay.

Missed it in the list. I prefer the NES Mega-Man games to the later ones having both the Mega-Man and Mega-Man X Collections. Mega-Man 1 FTW!

Do you have to cough up some more points for extra colors that's already on the roms?

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Some weird stuff was released during those days. Does anyone remember Kid Niki?
He was radical!! I actually bought this, pink box and all and it's not bad. Isn't Data East a part of Capcom?
We need Leo in this thread.

LOL!
Dvader, you found beauty in NES graphics? Do you collect dog turds and frame them in your house? LOLOLOLOL
Dvader said:Oh and lets not forget the game covers, back then game covers were a work of art. (not Mega Man)
That's an excellent point. Game covers back then were still experimental. Publishers still hadn't quite figured out the right elements for a game cover. So many game covers were usually just awful, but some real bizarre and creative covers were done. I think we may have to have an 8-bit cover thread in the near future.

I loved Data East games (Are You Bad Enough?) until I played RoboCop. One of the worst games ever to show up on the NES I tell you. But Karnov still makes up for that.

That game ruled!
Off the top of my head:
- Adventures of Lolo.
- MegaMan, MegaMan 2 and MegaMan 3.
- Castlevania 1, 2 and 3.
- Faxanadu.
- River City Ransom.
- Mike Tyson's PunchOut!!
- SMB, also 2 and especially 3.
- Deadly Towers...no, I'm kidding on this one.
- LifeForce. The only shmup I ever managed to finish. With the Konami code, lol.
- Battletoads.
- Ninja Gaiden.
- Friday the 13th. This one for real. Like a proto-survival horror title.
Proof that older covers where better, check out this thread on gaf

They take new games and make them fit old covers. It works, i see covers like this and I feel a something inside I dont when I see modern covers, back then it was magical.

Nice!
EDIT: Hey, a version of Madworld I'd actually play!
Damn you Raven!
Love the retro boxart. Here's an idea, all games come with reversible covers, retro ones. It's not hard to do.
I had never touched kid icarus in the NES days, I played it on the VC and loved it. It was like a Metroid mixed with Zelda type game. It is cool.
I pretty much mirror what Raven says, especially about the music, many of the best tunes ever came from the NES. There is something special about NES games, a certain charm, a certain beauty that goes along with what these developers got out of such limited hardware.
