Officially the worst list of the year.

Since that is the only one on the list you have played I know you are joking. But I thought that even you enjoyed HL2Ep2?

I did, but it's like a 6 if you're being harsh, and 8 if you're very generous. 10 is insanity.

As my GOTY? It was a good game, a very good game, but in the running against the other games Iplayed this year it did not get a mention.
I am playing Mafia II right now, which does have a 3/10th of a feeling that he Sabotuer did, so if you see it cheap you may want to try it. None of the pedestrian traversal that Sabo had, but pretty much everything else. Including boobies.
gamingeek said:Are you going to review Spec Ops?
I wish I could. I think it is the most consequential game of the generation. Not for it's specific message, nor its gameplay but by its very existence.
Hey does can anyone help me out with what my 2008 GOTY would have been?
gamingeek said:Can you explain why?
Not without spoiling it. That's why I said I wish I could review it. I honestly think it will be one of those games that enthusiasts will reference for as long as gaming is around.
If you have any interest in playing it at all, avoid all coverage of the game. In end of year podcasts there have been some explicit spoilers being thrown around.
2008 GOTY - That probably would have been Bioshock, World of Goo, No More Heroes, GTA IV or DQV.
I am both not a good enough writer and too distracted to dedicate to a written work right now.

I am thinking it would have to have been No More Heroes.

Hmmm... I am the EXACT opposite. I distract myself BY writing. It's kinda a guilty pleasure of mine.

Ah yes, should have seen that coming.

When I have the time I don't have the faculties, I am usually dead tired or gaming. When I write it is usually as a result of being caught up on all my jobs around the farm and being in the right mood.

It's a fair excuse though, no?
Prior GOTY's (for the year in which they were published):
2007: Super Mario Galaxy
2008: No More Heroes
2009: Uncharted 2
2010: Red Dead Redemption
2011: L.A. Noire
2012: Spec Ops: The Line
This year I beat 39 games and awarded 9 games 10/10:
The two biggest disappointments of the year were Mass Effect 3 and Rage. Rage nosed out ME3 for the most disappointing though. I really was expecting a great FPS and got far less than that.
The lowest scoring games of the year were:
Nothing else scored below a 6 (the average was 8.3).
I cannot pick a personal best of the year, there were simply too many top tier games that I'd be unable to choose from.
