Dark Souls is technically a new IP.
They weren't allowed to use the Demon's Souls name because Sony owned it so they had to make a sequel but change the name of it.

I debated whether to go with sequel or IP.
There WAS a ton of sequels this year, but at least they were good.
I can easily find my GOTY posts for these years so I will just copy paste them, I will make any adjustments if I have changed my mind on anything. DAMNIT I dont have a top 10, shit, guess I have to make one.

I added one to many games to my list so I got 11. Once again another huge collection of excellent games, hard to pick a top ten as there were so many excellent games. The high end though stopped being used as I don't think Zelda SS is as great as past GOTY winners. This is the last excellent year of the gen, next is the decline into the crap years at the end of the generation. We should have gone next gen right after this.
Understand that this is the year of the Witcher, bitches.
